Transitioning from Christmas to Winter Decor

I don't pack away all of my Christmas decor right away.
This morning I boxed up all the Nativity sets that were in the family room.   Tomorrow I will box up all the Santa's and take down the Christmas tree.     I will leave out the  "winter stuff" until later .....

My little cabinet looks pretty empty without anything in it.
We took down the two small Christmas trees and put the library ladder where they were.    The post office box was moved from the entry way and put under the ladder for a fresh look in the family room.   I have another piece to put in the entry way to give that area a fresh look for spring.

I boxed up the Nativity that was on the fireplace mantel and replaced it with a winter picture that I will leave up until Valentines.....or maybe even spring.

The winter tree's that were in my Christmas vignettes will all get boxed up together later.

This lit picture is one I picked up at Kirkland's when they had them 50% off.     You get a lot of bang for the buck  for $20.

The antlers and deer will be some of the last things that I box up.

The Christmas mantel for 2015 was one of the hardest ones I've had to part with....it was my all time favorite.

I also put away the New Year's eve decor that was on this table.

This will be one of the last things to come down.    When I decorated the hallway cabinet in November  I wanted it to be a winter scene so  it could be left up  until about February.    I did the same thing in the entry way,  so  I won't have to worry about getting all that boxed up for a while either!

  1. Working on same thing today - it was actually hard to part with all of Christmas - was my favorite in many years. Sure wish I would've blogged it - ah well, it's a busy month.

I keep all my white flocked stuff - and deer and mercury and snowflake things, I do like the shimmer and lightness of my "winter" things - but it is certainly odd keeping it out when we haven't had any snow yet - is weirdest warmest winter of my life, very very strange.

Anyway, I sure enjoyed all your awesome decor this year, Penny.

Happy New Year to you, dear lady!

  3. I have taken my christmas decor down now but only because we were away some of the holidays and did not want to tidy away when we came back, so we came back to a frsh tidy house. To be honest I would struggle to take any of your decor down as it is quite simply beautiful. Have a lovely new year and many more home decor ideas. Leah xxx
