Repurposed Head/Foot Board

What do you do with a sleigh bed that has been passed down two times and is broke in several places?    Well.   after it was purchased by our daughter and handed down to her daughter and finally given to me....what else can you do with it but make a serving buffet for the sun room!

In the before photo you can see how the foot  board was broke across the top.   When you look at the headboard top,  you can see how the foot board used to look.   ( No one admits to it ,   but I think someone sat on the end of the bed and broke the foot board top...lol)    Also,  one of the side boards was broken in half.
In the after photo,  you can see how H butted the head and foot boards together and put a top between them to make a buffet server for the sun room.

H took the two pieces that were broke out of the foot board and put one at each end of the top of the buffet.

I can't wait to serve refreshments on the new buffet while we are enjoying spring......spring IS coming....right????

It's "spring like" today....the sun is shining and it's about 70 degrees out side.

There have been quite a few changes to the sun room.....be back soon to show you!

  1. Penny, I LIKE this! Great repurposing. I've seen benches made from beds, but not a sideboard. I like it!

  6. Penny!!!!!!!!

    OMG!!!!!

This is truly amazing!!! H reminds me so much of my Dad,who was able to do just about everything. He loved to work with furniture and not only did he enjoy printing it but he also made furniture. He made the one small cabinet in my Dining Room to match the rest of the pieces.

This is one of the BEST repurposing posts that I have ever seen.....

    Hugs,
    Debbie

  11. What a wonderful transformation! I love when people give new life to old things instead of scrapping them. It is warm here on Oregon, too. Sunshine and seventies.

  18. Your bench turned out beautiful. I like to use metal headboards and footboards to make outdoor furniture with. I have a friend who welds them for me. Yours makes me wish I had a spot in my home to put a nice one like yours. Beautiful!
