Rusty Crusty Junk in the Garden

I shared the flower bed on the west side of the sunroom with you yesterday.    H and I worked in the flower bed on the east side this morning,  so I wanted to share it with you today.

Before I show you the flower bed though,   I wanted to share how the sun room will open up and become part of the out doors......

Most of the French door that surround the sunroom  will open with just a little work to get them behind the furniture that sits in front of them.

Does this bring the outside in.......or bring the inside out?

Okay,  now for a look at the flower bed
A good share of  what is in this flower bed is what I call.....rusty crusty junk!     The centerpiece of the flower bed is my vintage grocery cart.

H picked up these hay trolly's a while back at a yard sale and I have them repurposed as part of the rock  border around the flower bed.    H has the big hay tines somewhere around here,  but couldn't lay his hands on the today.

I have several bird feeders .......the first one is a rusty shovel welded to a piece of rebar.   I picked it up a few years back on a trip to Round Top.

I have a metal art bird sitting in the bird seed.    We have so many cats around here that not too many birds stop by to eat,,  but we do have a few.

In the right corner of the photo is another bird feeder made with a pot.......

This bird feeder is made with a metal coffee pot......

I want to plant my grocery cart with flowers ,   but for now

I have a concrete angel bird feeder in it.

Slowly but surely  the flower beds are getting cleaned up.    My medicine is beginning to kick in and I am feeling much better,  but still can't work the entire day like I used to!

I borrowed the chair that you see on the porch from the green house,   It can't be left out because of the sprinklers that run every other day so it will have to be returned this afternoon..   Remember we don't get much rain here in Eastern New Mexico,   so almost all of the houses have a inground sprinkler system that runs on a timer.

  2. Penny,
I love all your Rusty Crusty Junk especially the shopping cart!! The bird feeder shovel is so cute. I can not put out bird feeders or we would have flocks of birds in the yard. They do like to visit and make use of the bird bath....Everything looks wonderful!!
We will be having normal and cooler than normal temps. here over the next 2 weeks so I will be working in the house. I still have to take down Easter because when we had the warm weather I opted to take advantage of working outside.....

  3. You have such an enchanting garden. It must bring you so much joy to wander around your charming garden and look at all that you have accomplished. I love all of the pink touches, and am actually in the process of painting much of my outdoor furniture in a pale shade of pink.

  8. When we lived in Florida we had two rooms where the doors slid back into the walls leaving the house open to the outside enclosed patio/pool area. I loved it! xo Diana
