Lace Christmas Trees

Do you save the little pieces of lace that are left over from past projects?  Well, I do....and I have a pretty big bag of them!  Most of the pieces were 6-8 inches long, but I had a few that were about a yard long.  I decided that I would make some lace Christmas trees for this years mantle and ....
I was really pleased with the way they turned out!
I used recycled cardboard boxes to make my cones.    Coca Cola & Krispy Kreme...I forgot to take before pictures!  What is left of the cartons in in the top left side of the picture.   Those donuts were yummy!

I took my pieces of lace and hand gathered them....easy to do in front of the TV at night....it's a simple sewing project that the grands could have fun helping!
I made my cone 21 inches long....about a  5" diameter across at the bottom...which is about a 12 " circumference.

I used one of my yard long pieces to make the ruffle to go around the bottom.  I used about 3 times the fabric to make really full ruffles.

You can see in the second photo that I allowed about 3/4 inch between the tiers.
You can see in the first two photos how I had to hot glue 2-3 of the short pieces around the cone to make a complete tier.

Just keep gluing your gathered scraps of lace around the cone until it is finished!

Your trees can sit flat or you can put them in a container.   My 5" tree bottoms fit perfect in these large vintage tea glasses.'
All your trees will be "one of a kind" as you are using scraps!

See all the different kids of lace that I used.

You could also decorate these cute little trees......

Here is the link to a earlier post showing how I made these garland trees.
