| The before picture shows the "wall" across from the fireplace...the sofa just didn't look right sitting in front of the opening to the formal dining room. Also, if you put the sofa in front of the opening and leave room to walk....you're sitting too close to the fireplace. So, I decided to see if I could make a faux wall and solve my problem! |
In the past, I have had to put the sofa to the side of the fireplace.....now I can have it in front of the fireplace with plenty of room to walk. The door you see in the "after" picture goes to the garage and right next to the TV is the opening to the sun room....it is a high traffic area.

| I started by tacking a large sheet to the top of the opening for a backdrop....I used little bitty nails right above the casing where there will be no wall repair when I might change my mind..lol! I layered a large lace tablecloth over the sheet. |

| I layered a ruffled valance and rose garland over the lace and hung a picture frame from white chain in the center of my "window". |

| I wired my white heart rose wreath to the picture frame with very thin silver wire I stole a few roses from the garland and pinned them to the heart wreath where it would match. |

| I am so pleased with my new "wall". I will need to do something similar on the other side of my faux wall that faces the formal dining room. Lovely creation! Great idea too! Our basement isn't finished, and at one time I had white sheets stapled to the studs to form a 'wall'. May have to put them back up now!! Inspiration!!

ReplyDeleteI have done something similar with the pass through opening between the Kitchen and the Dining Room . I hung curtains on each side to make it look like a window on each side.
You could have gotten a large curtain rod and hung lace curtains or any other type of curtain over the opening to create a "wall" and then you could have just added to it on each side of the opening in each room.....
Apparently several of your rooms are off of the family room? Just trying to figure out your floor plan in my head.....
Anyhow, it looks great!!
I changed over the outside decorations to Winter decorations yesterday so I have at least started to change things over to Winter and take down Xmas......

Your Valentine coffee table is adorable..I have my Valentines out too. Since I was cleaning and clearing it just made sense to go ahead and put out hearts and flowers.
