Repurposed Chest of Drawers

We have been working really hard to get the greenhouse finished in time for spring planting.....mission accomplished!   Now the real fun will begin!
Saturday we decided it was time for a little R&R,  so we took a road trip to Amarillo Texas....had some lunch and did a little shopping!
While H has been finishing up the outside of the greenhouse.......I have been working on the inside.   You have seen the potting table that we built from an old door and some "scraps",   now I want to show you the second piece of greenhouse "furniture" that we have added.

We have had this three drawer chest forEVER!.   It was bought at a yard sale and we took it to the lake house about 30 years ago....it sat in the small mud room with our microwave on it, and we used the drawers for storage.  When the lake house was sold ,  the little chest of drawers came home and was put in the garage for storage.

I decided to bring our little dresser out of retirement and use it in our new green house.    I gave it the same pink weathered wood look that the potting table got.     The second drawer is now on the top of the dresser and is holding three big pots of petunias that I bought Saturday at Home Depot for $5 a pot....what a deal!

The two top drawers are permanently nailed open and can now hold small pots of greenery or flowers.

The third shelf is now resting on the floor and can hold taller plants or flowers.
Aren't these petunias gorgeous....and they make the green house smell wonderful!
I bought these cute gnomes at HL .....reminded me of how happy H and I are!
I want to hang something on the knobs,  but haven't found anything yet.

My next project is finishing the baby changing table that is sitting on the left of the dresser.
Thank you so much for stopping by today...come back soon!

  1. This planter is so clever and really pretty. Growing up my grandmother had a lovely sun porch and this reminds me of something she had out on her porch. :)

  2. Your potting shed is the bomb. com. I love it! I love pink, so your potting bench and repurposed dresser are perfect to me. I saw your potting bench last week. You are such a lucky duck. I've always wanted a greenhouse or potting shed!

Question: Did you line the drawers with anything before adding the pots/plants?

  4. I just can't get enough of this sweet shed! I love the smell of petunias and I can imagine it's smelling really good in there. How about hanging some vintage crystals from your knobs? Just a thought. It would add just a subtle bit of bling to your little piece of heaven. I hope you do many many more posts on the shed! Here's hoping!

  5. Super cute idea! I'm a flower nut so anything with flowers makes me happy! I like the way you brought the drawer up on top to use it for the potted plants and extended the other two drawers to hold more- very cute!

Love it. I have a similar potting table in my shabby chic shed. I used a great big pink enamel ware tub as a potting 'sink". It's my sweet little house in my back yard. My hubby built it for me.
    Your's is lovely!

  12. I love the gnomes. Those are the first ones I have seen that I really like a lot. They don't have the harsh colors that most of them have. Really sweet. The changes you make in things ..just adorable.
You inspired me so headed out to the patio today and painted the old birdcage new leaf green and hung it behind the swing. Now to put something inside it. I get lots of inspiration from you. Thanks! :)

  51. Your green house is looking beautiful, unlike ours, but it is serving its purpose. I love the idea of using a chest of drawers for plant, thanks for sharing on Tuesdays With a Twist, I love your blog, so many cleaver ideas.

  52. Loving the Chest of Drawers Upcycled Planter AND your Beautiful Greenhouse! One of our long overdue Projects is to build a Greenhouse out of Architectural Salvaged Windows and Doors and Victorian Trim... I have all the supplies... just need the Manpower to get around to it! In the meantime I shall be duly Inspired by those, like you, who already have Greenhouses and Conservatories that are the stuff Dreams are made of!

  64. I found you through Funky Junk, and I am so GLAD I DID!
I do have a question, ok many, but will only ask one.
In your last pic to the right there seems to be a shed made out of windows,
is there a full picture, do you have information about it that you could share?
As Toledo, OH has been 1. in the worst winter category, and the temps aren't expected
to get above 40 this week, as of today, I am looking for some spring Inspriation,
    THANK YOU!
