Organizing My Faux Flowers

If you visit my blog very often you  probably couldn't help but notice that floral designs are a big part of my decorating style...lol!  
I have a pretty large studio out in the back yard.....about 500 square feet.....but it doesn't  have a designated area for all the flowers that I have accumulated over the years or a place to put together a floral design..    H and I have been working very hard over the last few days to make me a place for my flowers and a table to work on.

Most of my flowers were in these totes or stuffed in corners around the studio.   Needless to say,  I couldn't find anything!   I had most of the flowers in the totes sorted by color,   but not by season.   So,  if I needed tulips for spring they might be in a tote labeled "pink flowers"    That tote  might contain fall flowers or even Christmas flowers!

I decided the best way to find what I was looking for was to get the flowers out of the totes where I could see them!  

 I used a $5 Christmas tree that I had bought at a yard sale this past summer as the "holder" for all my flowers     I just tucked the flowers into the branches so I can easily remove them when I am ready to create a floral design.     I have a trunk under the front of the tree to hold styrofoam,  grass,  and other items I need to make a floral design.

The lockers that you see on the right side of the photo hold all my Valentine stuff.

Let's take a look around the tree.......

Starting at the top......

I have separated the flowers by color.....

 

I also have a small Easter tree to the side of the large one......

I am so excited......I can actually see what I need without going thru all those totes looking for it!

I didn't worry about separating the flowers by season....just color.

I have added another smaller tree next to the big tree to put my birds,  nests,  and houses on as I find them.    Those kind of items are stored in boxes in the built in cabinets.....can't find what I need there either!    So,  I am adding them to the pink tree as I clean the cabinets.

I left the existing chandy hanging in the studio where it was and just made it a part of my flower tree.

I know this is a long post,  but I wanted to share the area that I have to make my floral designs in. too!

 I have a desk that slides out so I can add leaves to make it bigger if I need to.

I have quite a few extra lamps stored in the studio,  so I had plenty to group together in my work area.

I like to work in a well lit area.

I have stacked a tiered table on top of another table to make a place to store my lace.    I still need to organize that,  but at least I have it all in one area.

I use ribbon in a lot of my floral designs,  so I have my ribbon close to the desk.    I am hoping to come up with a better idea on how to store the ribbon.

Sometimes I take wreaths apart after I have used them for a while and store the flowers for use again.   These are some I really liked and left together for future use.    (H collects vintage mixers and he has his stash on the top of the built in cabinets along the south side of the studio.)
