Shabby Chic World Globe

I want to share how I styled the coffee table in the family room using the travel theme that I created  on the mantel and piano.

The centerpiece of my vignette on the wicker coffee table is a world globe that I transformed from  black chalkboard into a a shabby chic look.

I'm sorry that I forgot to get a before photo,  but picture a black chalkboard globe that I used several years ago in a Halloween vignette.       I sprayed over the black paint with a couple of coats of  cream colored paint and let it dry over night.

I cut out some bouquets of flowers from the fabric that I have been using around the room and decoupaged them on my globe.....

Globe..........................................USA map on the fireplace mantel.............and a pillow for the love seat.

I elevated the globe on a crystal cake plate.....everything looks better on a cake plate...lol!       Then I added an altered suitcase,   a few books........

DREAM blocks and  map fabric complete my coffee table vignette.

Here are some close ups of my shabby chic globe.....

The front......

and the back.....

I love pulling a room together.....

with the use of fabric

Are your peonies blooming in your area yet?    I couldn't resist snapping a photo of this gorgeous plant I saw the other day when H and I were riding around town

Big beautiful blooms!

I have a young peony bush in the back yard that produced a few white blooms this year.    I can't wait til it gets big like the one I saw on our ride.

I still need to decorate the sofa and the wall behind it to complete my travel themed family room.    Update on my medical issues......  I saw my doctor yesterday and have started some new medication that I hope will make me good as new in a couple of weeks!

  8. Vintage globes have been so popular for home decor in the last few years. Yours is truly original! I really like the decoupaged floral pattern. And, you're right -- everything does look better with it's elevated on a cake stand!

  41. I love, LOVE this globe idea! But those numbers on the globe are bugging me. Any ideas about what I could cover them with, when I do this project? Again, it's a tiny detail, but I'm a bit OCD about these types of things. I welcome anyone's suggestion
