Decorating with Paint

We have been busy painting anything that doesn't move!  We painted the hall cabinets white and I love the new look!   Paint is one of the most inexpensive ways to get the biggest bang for your decorating dollar!

The wood on these cabinets was very dark, and the mirrors on the opposite wall needed some "fluffing" too!

Before......

After!  What a difference for not a lot of money!

I filled the shelves with some of my milk glass collection...most were purchased at yard sales and auctions!

I have been collecting for a while...

and my mom left me her collection.

I added some vintage doilies, and softened the display case with a sheer swag.  You can't see them very well, but there are small roses on the swag fabric.

Another way to get the most bang out of your decorating budget is to add lighting to an area.     We installed some  lights to the display case...wow...what a difference!

I have a floor length mirror at the end of the hallway that reflects out newly painted cabinets, and the Valentine tree in the entry way.  I added a swag to this mirror that matches the one over the display cabinet.

The master bedroom is to the left of the mirror and there is a guest bedroom on the right.

We are still painting and I can't wait to show you more!

    11. Your transformations are just beautiful. It really is amazing what a coat or two of paint will do. The cabinet and mirrors just "pop" now. Your milk glass collection is quite extensive. I started collecting it several years ago, but have since sold off most of my collection. I am more into the Fenton glassware now (the colored stuff - PINK!), but I do have a few milk glass pieces left including the same beautiful epergne that I see in your cabinet. Wonderful post Penny - thanks for sharing!

    42. Came here from Diana Rambles Pin Me. I love paint to and love to makeover old, useless things with paint. The mirrors are beautiful and love the built ins, pinned them! I'm drooling over your milk glass collection. My grandmother gave me the large basket with a handle, it's displayed in my china cabinet and is one of my prized possessions. It's so hard to find milk glass these days. Have a good one.
