Changes in the Back Yard

We have been working in the back yard for about two weeks..still a lot more to do, but we are getting there!    We had to move everything away from the house to paint the brick...so we are trying to give the house a fresh look as we put stuff back.    The first thing we did was add black shutters to the windows in the back yard.  We have had shutters in the front yard for several years, but none in the back.  We have trimmed a lot of the bushes next to the house.  The small bush in the right corner used to be huge!  It was taller than the house, rubbed on the trim and looked really "tired".  So we trimmed in to about 3' tall.  Now we can have a flower bed, nothing seemed to grow under that big bush!

So, we planted lots of pretty flowers and added a bench and small table to the new area...

There isn't much color there yet, but it should be pretty by the end of the summer!

Some Memorial day decor and a rose flag... 

H planted a hill of patty pan squash on each side of my new rain boots...($3 at a yard sale last week end, they had never been worn!)_ 

I put a ladder in the corner and added some Memorial day decor and potted plants.

I also added a few touches of Memorial day decor to H's vegetable garden.   He put up a big iron fence to keep me out..but it isn't working...lol!

I made a new wreath for his "bed"

and put a touch of Memorial day on it!

We are planning to have a cook out with the kids on Monday.  I haven't planned the menu yet, but it will probably be hamburgers and hot dogs.    I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day!
