| We didn't have any auctions to go to over the Labor Day week end and very few yard sales, but I did manage to pick up a few treasures. |

| We drove over to Plainview. Texas and stopped by a big Antique Mall where some of my favorite booths just happen to be. One of the booths had 75% off everything.....she wasn't closing her booth, but wanted to start fresh with a new look for the upcoming holidays. These sweet poodles were marked $5 which was cheap enough....but with the 75% off....only $1.25 for all three. |

| She also had 3 of these mantle hangers, so with the discount they were only $2 each. I plan to use these year round to hang stuff from my mantles. |

| Love this vintage table cloth and 4 matching napkins that I found at a yard sale for $1.50. The cherubs are marked Christmas Around the World 1998 (House of Lloyd)....they were $1 each. |

| I should have had this photo with the other purchases that I bought at the 75% off booth....oh well......the set of 3 dresser scarves was $1. |

| On our day trip to Plainview, we passed so many beautiful fields of cotton.....sorry, I didn't get any photos! Anyway, it got me to thinking about how pretty a wreath of cotton bolls would be. So, when I found some stems of faux cotton at Michaels, I couldn't resist picking up a few. I clipped the cotton bolls off the stems and glued them together to make a wreath. |

Oh, Penny. You are an answer to my prayers! I ordered a cotton boll garland a while back and have been kicking myself ever since as it is kind of stiff to drape nicely and I wished I had bought a wreath. Now I know how to get a wreath. One of those, why didn't I think of that myself!! things. You sure scored on all your pretties. Those little poodles are so retro and so cute..Happy Tuesday..Judy

ReplyDeleteI remember those poodles from the 1950's and 60's. Lots of things made like that but those are the cutest I've ever seen. You DO find the most wonderful things for the most wonderful prices. I really do think it's all in where a person lives. Some I've heard complain that there are no garage sales around them....so it just must be the area.

ReplyDeleteMy mom used to have to pick cotton every fall with her brothers and sisters when she was a kid. She said it was hot, sweaty, scratchy work. She was famous for telling my sister and I that " At least you don't have to pick cotton." whenever we complained about our chores. I should make her a wreath and have that quote as a banner across,lol. She would get a kick out of it.
