Fall Tablescape

This week has just flown by!

I can't believe it's already Thursday.....or that Monday is Labor Day!

I try to create a new tablescape for the family dining room each week.         I have lots of pretty dishes that I have collected over the years and I don't want to just leave them in the cupboard.     So,  I try to bring out a set each week to eat on all week long......but this is the second week for this set!     I changed the centerpiece and a few other things,  but the dishes are the same.

I normally have a vase of flowers as my centerpiece,  but I changed things up a bit this week.

I filled a metal bucket with dishes and a metal rooster then I tucked in some napkins.    I set my bucket on a tobacco basket and filled in around it with tea cups and saucers.....dessert plates....and a couple of rose bouquets.

I bought a pad of these Longhorn paper placemats from Amazon about a year ago.   I don't remember if there was 30 or 50 placemats on the pad,  but I've really enjoyed using them in my tablescapes.

When it's time for dinner,  we just grab a plate out of the metal bucket and "fill er up"

H had a truck years ago that looked a lot like this one.     I borrowed it from the side table by his recliner for my tablescape,     It also serves as a night light......there's a hole in the bottom of the truck to insert the light into.

Here's a close up of the dishes

Last week I had a big bouquet of baby's breath as the centerpiece for my tablescape......

So,  I moved last weeks centerpiece of baby's breath over to the buffet.   I originally had the metal truck on the buffet,  but then I moved it over the to table as I was taking pictures.      Don't know which place I like it better,  but it really doesn't matter as it's just  on loan to me from H's side table...lol!

I made some changes to the mirrored shelf unit hanging on the wall.

I took all away all the milk glass I had displayed on the shelves.   I then filled it very simply with a picture and two small  metal buckets of flowers.

The field of cotton picture is framed by a thin strip of metal and works perfectly with all the farmhouse decor that seem to be creeping into our home.

I hope you enjoyed my tablescape this week....it was so much fun to create!

Have I ever told you about the TV tray and piano stool you always see at the end of the display cabinet?   We keep our 10 year old grand daughter quite a bit while her RN mother is at work and dad is on the train.   She just slides her tray and chair over to the area between H and my recliners to do her homework or have a snack.....she even has her supper there sometimes.     She has another TV tray and "comfy chair" out in the sunroom where she sits to play on her computer or talk to her BFF on the phone.

  8. What a clever alternative to a floral centerpiece! I love the idea of showcasing dishware, especially when it's as pretty as yours! And that metal rooster - what can I say? Love the whimsy of it!

  10. Very sweet story about your granddaughter's table and chair here! Love your farmhouse decorating and the Texas longhorn... well, I need a few of those placemats to come on over and free range around my home! I wrote about visiting Fort Worth's Stockyards back in July. We visited during the last week of June and the longhorns were really cool! Great place if you haven't visited!!!

Enjoy the rest of your Labor Day holiday weekend,
    Barb :)
