Wire Spool Coffee Table and Clock Birdhouse for the Deck

I'm still tweaking the new deck .......hope you aren't tired of seeing it!      I wanted to have a small coffee table between the two wicker settee's,    but I didn't want it to be very tall and block the view of the fireplace.     I have a clear view of the deck from my recliner in the family room....lol!

I wanted the coffee table to have a farmhouse feel ........

When I spotted this wire spool at a yard sale Saturday,    I knew it would be perfect.
It was in pretty bad shape as you can see in the photo on the left,    but H worked his magic on it and it's almost as good as new as you can see in the photo on the right.

For an additional farmhouse look,    the base for my coffee table is a vintage wash tub.

I think it's a pretty cool Farmhouse style coffee table and budget friendly too!      $5 for the spool and I already had the wash tub,

Now for the scoop on the clock birdhouse H put together for the mantel.

Isn't it pretty!

Before...............................................................After
H plugged the holes with a piece of board left over from a previous project.....added eaves that were also left over ......and a piece of trim on the bottom,   also a left over.      I bought the clock at an auction a couple of years ago in a bundle of 3 clocks for $10.     So,  I still have 2 left over if I decide to make some more birdhouses.

The three small birdhouses on the front are some Christmas ornaments that I've had for years     H added two small picture frames to mimic a door for his birdhouse.

The birdhouse really came together when it was given a fresh coat of white paint.

I designed a wreath to put on the mantel.......

I have an urn of lavender on each side of the mantel.     This one has a metal pig in it......

The urn of lavender on the other side of the mantel has a metal cow stuck in it.

I sat a pot of white petunia's on each side of the fireplace.    There aren't many blooms on them right now,   but they are loaded with small buds and will be gorgeous in a few days.

Isn't this pillow sweet?      It was $10 on Amazon,    here's the link if you need one too!    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BJH4XDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have light weight blankets handy that are just perfect to take the chill off on a summer evening.

I hope my post gave you some inspiration on how to repurpose an old non working clock or a big wooden spool top!

  3. Penny,
Your imagination and H's carpentry skills sure do make a winning combination!!! The stool coffee table is the perfect touch to the decor on your porch!! And the clock/birdhouse is a true work of art, my friend!! I know you had a booth for awhile but I still say, that you and H would be able to sell all your re-purposed items with no problem! I will never tire of seeing your lovely new porch!!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie

  4. Me again!! One question I have to ask...Where does H have all his tools????? In all the years that I have read your blog, I do not recall seeing H's work shop or where it is that he creates his magic?????? My Dad had all his tools and power saws and miters down in our basement..... It killed me when he passed away to have to sell all of that....
    Hugs,
    Deb

    1. H has a 10 X 12 Tuff shed that sits kind of behind the studio. You've probable noticed the yellow Tuff shed that I store my fall stuff in.....and if you look real close to the left of mine it is another one just like it that H uses.....hugs....
