Backyard Blooms

The rose garden in the back yard has been in the spot light for the last few weeks,   and now it's time for the phlox's to be the star of the yard!

When I was growing up,   mama & daddy had big beds of phlox's in the backyard    The biggest bed was next to the patio and we would sit out there and eat supper in the evening and the fragrance of the phlox's would fill the whole area

I am in love with the new artwork I have next to the bed of phlox's.     I recently ordered my cow flag in from Amazon......I love shopping from my recliner and finding cool stuff on the porch in a couple of days

I started with just a few phlox's transplants from another flower bed in the back yard and they have filled in nicely around the greenhouse.

I have my phlox's surrounded by plants that are in containers.    I really like being able to move a pot of flowers to another area if I want to.

I plant sweet potato vine every year in the garden.    This year I put a couple of plants in containers so I could move them if I needed to fill in a blank spot in another flower bed.

I have yard art scattered around my flower beds.....

If you look in the background.....over by the tea room.......you can see the orange blooms on the trumpet vine.

Peeking out from behind the phlox's,   you can see another piece of artwork hanging on a lattice wall.

Sometimes I hang another piece of artwork on this side of the roll away,  but today I just let the front piece show thru.

The concrete and grass are wet,  so I bet you are wondering if we got some rain here in Eastern New Mexico.....no......

We don't get a lot of rain here so we depend on a in ground sprinkler system to water the yard.      The sprinklers are programmed to run a few times a week and if we are lucky enough to get some rain,  H just turns them off for that day.     The hanging baskets have to be watered by hand.

H & I have been playing in the yard all morning and it's time to relax in the shade for a while......

We'll enjoy a little snack of cupcakes and iced cappuccino while we relax.....yummm   yummm

I enjoy your visits so much,   please stop by again soon!

  1. Good morning Penny, Oh, how I love Phlox too. They were one of my mother's favorites. I need to try again to grow them around my house. I have some wicked yard people who love to spray everything with weed killer. I live an HOA and don't recommend living in one to ANYONE. These guys killed all my 4 o'clocks and cosmos this year and a little volunteer pine tree. Ok, onto your lovely yard. I love the cow flag. It add so much to your yard. I do like the sweet potato vines. They are a great filler and I like their color contrast. I enjoy your posts more than I can express to you. Thank you a million times over.
