New Area Rug Brings a Summer Vibe to the Family Room

I don't buy new area rugs very often but when I spotted this one I knew it would be perfect to bring a light and airy summer vibe to our family room

I loved the cozy look that my layered rugs had given the family room for quite a while but I was ready for a change.      I have a place in the studio where I store the ever growing collection of rugs that I have and I use them over and over again.     The checked rug on the bottom of the stack found a new home on the front porch.    Here's a link to that post if you would like to see how it looks there.....http://penny-pennystreasures.blogspot.com/2022/06/hand-me-down-rug-for-front-porch.html

I am sure my new rug will become a work horse in my collection    I am already visioning how it would look in the sunroom......lol!

My rug came from At Home.....it's 8 x 10.....and I thought the $220 price tag was a budget friendly price

I usually lean more toward floral rugs,  but the texture on this one really caught my eye

AND....it's reversable!     Should have took a pic....sorry...    The other side has the darker color in the center and around the edge....then the lighter color is just in the center stripe.    When it's flipped it will have more of a fall look.

I decorated the mantle for Memorial Day and plan to leave it up at least until after the 4th .....

I might even leave it until after Labor Day!

I've been purging and organizing again..... or is it still.     I came across this lap quilt that I made a long long time ago.

It was the first and only attempt I made at quilting so be kind....

I didn't have a stretcher so it's kind of puffy in places.    I made it about 35 years ago so I guess it's an antique now.....just like me!

Here's how our  new rug looks from the sunroom....

And here's how it looks from the family dining room......I love it!

  5. Hi, Penny. It's still really neutral and really anchors the room. We put a blue rug down, now I have Paint the walls a different color, the reason I haven't posted any photos. I didn't think it would make a big difference, but they really do. Such a calm and lovely gathering place you have created! Sandi

  6. Your new rug looks great. It really brightens the room. Sometimes changing one thing really makes an impact. I am happy to feature this post at Love Your Creativity. Happy Sunday.
