Mercantile themed Dining Room Summer Cabinet

While out shopping recently,   a Mercantile print caught my eye.      I  immediately envisioned how great it would look as the star of my dining room summer cabinet

I've often wondered how an old Mercantile looked so I Googled it,    Boy was I surprised at the variety of goods carried.

My cabinet is pretty big and I had lots of idea's of how to fill it,    I was really surprised how quickly I ran out of room in the cabinet before I ran out of ideas.

One of the shelves in my cabinet has a cute vignette that has my small collection of vintage canned goods in it....

An old potato masher  shows off a label that might have been on a can of evaporated milk....

A twine holder is on a nearby shelf.....

I normally would hang my picture on the cabinet,   but I was in the mood for something a little different.     I placed a large easel on the cabinet ledge and sat my picture in it......

My mercantile has an open and closed sign,   and both sides have a display of kitchen towels hanging on one of the cabinet doors.

A delivery truck is a must for any mercantile.....

Goat soap and a goat milk candle....

You may  have noticed a few changes I made while I was photographing my post.     I moved the Welcome sign.   the greenery plant.   and the floral design from each side of the picture to each end of the ledge.

I like it both ways,   which way do you like the best?

  3. Oh my goodness! I love the mercantile sign! It looks perfect, and the small delivery truck is like the icing on the cake! We have a small milk delivery truck used in advertising for a local dairy. I love it and always have it displayed somewhere in our dining room. Thanks for sharing Penny.
