Repurposed Table Lamp

I made the sweetest birdbath this morning from a beautiful vintage lamp that I had got at a yard sale for a couple of dollars a few years ago.   I can't seem to pass up lamps...or!   I have accumulated quite a few lamps over the years and have a big table full of them out in the studio.

H took all the electrical out (save it in case you want to convert it back to a lamp)
I hot glued a melamine plate to the top.    Since I am unsure about how well the glue will hold the plate, I used a melamine plate that won't break if it comes loose and falls off.   You could use a china plate and strong plate glue, if you are sure you don't want to use it as a lamp later.

I added a rose bouquet to the vignette  and clipped a pink bird to one of the roses.
The plate on my repurposed birdbath lamp could also hold a candle, some dried rose petals, or some yummy chocolates.  Since I am using it as a Valentine bird bath, I clipped two pink love birds to the plate.   I will probably add a nest when it gets closer to spring.

I have a large mirror on the top of this vintage mail sorter that I am using as a table....
and have placed a sweet couple taking a buggy ride to add another hint of Valentine decor to the entry way.

I am not doing a lot of decorating for Valentines Day this year....just adding subtle touches here and there to existing decor.  I placed a heart pillow in each chair in the entry way that can be easily changed out to SPRING anyone else ready for spring...I AM!

  1. That turned out cute, Penny. That is such a cute plate- I have never seen one made out of that material that was that cute. xo Diana

  2. Penny,

E6000 glue!! That is what you need to use when gluing something like that so I will stick. i use it on all kinds of things especially glass to glass or china to china.

Love the lamp re-purposed into a birdbath. I have a similar lamp up the attic. I too have a things for lamps. I am looking at your door open.... It was a heat wave here today. 15 degrees in the morning and 23 for a high!! Compared to the single digit temps. we have been having, it was a heat wave but it will only last one more day and we will be back into the single digits again. we were supposed to get snow today but I think it fizzled out or it will snow when I am on my way to work!!

  6. I'm ready for Autumn Penny,it's so hot here at the moment, but Spring sounds lovely. How fast the Seasons fly by though. It seems 5 mins since last Autumn.

  7. what a great idea! I love buying vintage lamps too. Never thought of using the base like that. Very pretty.

  8. Wonderful little ideal and just to cute for spring or Valentines day.

  9. What a unique idea! Love it. I love the chair that the heart pillow is on.

  10. That is so clever! :) About Springtime. No, I am not ready. We have had NO Winter. No rain, no cold weather. Just a few days of balmy wind..nothing more. It's already more like Spring than Winter. I just ordered a sweet heart pillow..I hope it arrives safely. Your subtle touches are perfect!

  11. Very unique bird bath idea and I noticed a unicorn pulling the buggy.
