Victorian Sofa

I have been looking for a Victorian sofa to go with our chairs forEVER!     I have seen a few at the antique stores,  but they were pretty pricey so I didn't buy them.   One of the yard sales last Saturday had one listed in their newspaper ad,  so I went by there before we left for the auction.

Country Barn Auction

We drove out to a little community Saturday....about 30 miles away ......a few hundred people live there,  and they combined all their "treasures" in a barn and held an auction.   The barn was full and the auction took all day....but it was so much fun!

No Sew Shabby Chic Swing Canopy and Seat Cover

I have had this wicker swing for about 15 years and have "recovered" it many many times.    I wanted to show you how I do it.....fast ( a couple of hours) ...... easy ( no sew )  and inexpensive (less than $10)
First.... I keep an eye out during yard sale season for a full size comforter, dust ruffle, shams, and sheet set.....for less than $10 and in a color that I like!.

Hay Wheel Barrow

We bought this hay wheel barrow at the auction last fall.   I had already decorated the yard for fall,  so we just put it up for the winter.    I couldn't wait to get it out this spring!
I have seen lots of wheel barrows,  but never one made especially to transport bales of hay.

Spring Porch

H has been working in the yard this morning......and I have been adding some spring touches to the front porch.    We are expecting beautiful weather the rest of the week,  so I hope to get the front porch finished by the week end.

Yard Sales at Ransom Canyon

Saturday,  we went to a city wide yard sale in Ransom Canyon,  Texas   (about 100 miles from here)  What a beautiful area...tree's....water  (Buffalo Springs Lake)....gorgeous homes!    There were about 30 homes that participated in the sale
I bought this pretty tea pot, sugar, creamer, 4 cups/ saucers and 6 dessert plates at one of the sales.

Vintage Ceramic Gas Heater

I just love these vintage ceramic gas heaters,  in fact,  I have bought a couple of them to place in the openings of our faux fireplaces in the bedrooms.   When this little beauty came up for sale at the auction....nobody wanted her!   All of the bricks were gone and they aren't worth much in that condition.

Vintage Lady Head Vase

These lovely head vases were made back in the 30's and 40"s to hold a small floral arrangement,  jewelry,  or anything little that was on a ladies dressing table.   I decided to make a little arrangement in her "head" from some roses that I had cut from one of our rose bushes yesterday.   The roses were already starting to dry on the bush,  but I thought they could still be used in a floral design.

We Made a Flower "Bed" for the Greenhouse

H & I are  tweeking the greenhouse...it's so much fun....hope you aren't tired of seeing it!    As we have added more plants to the green house,  we are running out of room!   Of course,  some of them will go outside when the weather gets warmer.

$20 Mini Guest Bedroom Redo

I was at an estate sale 2 weeks ago and over in the corner were two big boxes with  satin & lace sticking out......kind of a blushy beige and cream color.   I went over to look at them and discovered there was a king comforter, bedskirt, two king shams,  and two pair of curtains with matching valance, and two large pieces of lace.  I couldn't find a price on them, so I went and asked one of the ladies in charge of the sale how much they were.

Room Changes for under $10

I wanted to challenge my self to see what changes I could make in  a room for less than $10....this is what I came up with!

I have quite a large "stock pile" of sheets that I have bought at auctions, yard sales, & estate sales.   (I try not to pay over $1 for a sheet)
The first thing I did was rip a pink full size sheet into strips.    I used part of the strips to make a rag garland for the door in the corner of the sun room and you will see further down in the post what I did with the other strips.    I tied the 2-3 inch strips to a piece of twine.   I then tied the ends of the twine around a screw at each end of the wood Home Sweet Home plaque that was already hanging on the door.
