Prairie Chic

When I saw this chair at a yard sale Saturday I knew it would be the perfect piece for me to try my hand at some shabby Prairie Chic decorating.    I love to have fun when I decorate and this piece certainly fills the bill!

Architectural Details

I love the look that architectural elements add to a room and I was able to purchase a few good pieces at a yard sale over the week end.   I had been to a sale at this ladies house last summer and it was a really good,  we got up early and waited out in the front of her house until she opened Saturday.   It was so worth it!!!!

This is our first year to grow sunflowers in the backyard far,  so good!   The only thing I will do different next year is plant them a lot thicker.     I have already cut some and have them drying for fall decorating.

Ornamental Hyacinth Beans

When I planted some hyacinth beans in this little white wagon,  I had a vision that the vines would spill over the sides of the wagon....wrong!   The vines grow upward and wind around anything they touch.

Shabby French Laundry Room

I decided this morning that it was time to freshen up the laundry room.   We did a mini make over in February 2013 and I haven't changed anything since then...that doesn't sound like me does!

4th of July Treasure Hunt

H and I had a quiet 4th of July week end....the kids were either working or went to the lake to do a little boating.    We are getting a little old to ski , so we didn't join them (H used to love to not so much)   We decided to drive to Lubbock.    We had a nice drive,  a great lunch,  did some shopping,  and went by a few yard sales.

Rooster and Roses Dishware

I was so excited to be able to purchase this set of Rooster & Roses dishes at the auction Saturday!    These dishes were manufactured in Japan in the 50's and are fairly hard to find.....I was lucky to get them!    The only other bidder was an antique dealer that quit bidding and let me have them.   We are friends and it was so sweet of her to do that,  I hugged her neck and gave her a big "thank you"!   I had the opportunity to repay the favor later on in the auction.

Potting Shed Redo

It has been about 6-7 years since the potting shed has been painted and it sure did need it!   With the addition of the greenhouse to our yard this year,  we really didn't need a potting shed anymore.   So,  what do you do with a no longer needed potting shed????...make it a tea room of course!   Kyleigh and I love to have tea parties,  so H made us a tea room!

Yard Sale Milk Glass

I have been searching for a milk glass punch bowl FOREVER and I finally found one! (in my price's been the hold up all along).    Don't pay any attention to that mound of fabric in the chair over there.....I've been working on  rag garlands all last week      Anyway,  back to my punch bowl.....
