The Softer Side of Patriotic Decor

I am not a big fan of the bolder patriotic colors......the red white and blue looks out of place with my pastel decor.    So,  I decided to use a very pale red.....kinda pink,   hehee ......with a pale blue instead of navy and the traditional white!

Windmill Blade Planter and Billy the Kid

H and I took a drive over to Fort Sumner New Mexico this afternoon......it's a little town about 60 miles from where we live.   There is a windmill repair shop over there that I wanted to go by and maybe purchase a piece of windmill for the yard.

Of course leave it to me to forget to take photo of the windmill repair shop,  but I did get a photo of the little coffee shop/ gift shop/  restaurant/  and windmill repair shop office  that his wife has across the street....lol!

Stainless Steel Washer Tub Repurposed

Our dishwasher needed some work done to it a few weeks ago and while the repairman was here,  he noticed that I liked to repurpose things.    He said he would drop off a washing machine tub that he had and would like to see what I could do with it.

Patio Umbrella Recovered with Ruffled Curtains

We have had some very high winds here in Eastern New Mexico the last few days......and those high winds left me with a garage sale umbrella that no longer had the pretty pink cover that I had made from sheets for it a couple of years ago.

Vignette's on the Porch

I created a couple of fun vignette's on the front porch this morning.

I scattered a few touches of  red,  white and blue around the porch  since Memorial Day is just a couple of weeks away.

Yard Sale Chandy over the Farmhouse Table

H bought a gorgeous Chandelier  for $25 at a yard sale last summer and we have just now had a chance to hang it.

Why the delay in getting it hung?     The stuff to hang it with was missing when he bought it and he finally found what he needed to hang it a few days ago.
Also,   it is very heavy and he needed someone to help him hang it.      Our son in law was sweet enough to come over and help get it up this morning..

Yard Artwork or Photography Backdrop?

Is it a large  piece of artwork for the yard,  a photography backdrop,  or both?     I think I will use it as both....lol!

With graduation fast approaching and family reunions coming up later in the summer......there are always a lot of family photo's being taken.

Recovering Lounge Chair Cushions Made Easy

Do you have any lounge chair cushions that have seen better days?
You can easily recover them for very little money by using sheets .    I find good sheets at yard sales all the time for a dollar or two.      I used queen size sheets this time but I have used smaller ones in the past depending on the size of the cushion I am recovering.

Metal Sheep Planter

I found the cutest metal sheep planter over the week end,  and she quickly found a home in the flower bed by the studio.

H  moved the boy/girl fountain from another area of the yard to this flower bed today.    It's so relaxing to hear it when we are sitting in our lounge chairs that are nearby.

Traveling by Train Vignette

H and I have been talking about where we might vacation this summer,   so my mind has been in a travel mode.
I decided to decorate the family room in a travel theme for the summer and I wanted to share my progress so far.   I decorated the fireplace mantel with maps and globes....the piano top is decorated with vintage camera's ,,,,,,the coffee table has a decoupaged globe vignette,  and now I have created a train travel  inspired vignette on the TV armoire.

Junk Garden

It's hard to believe that we had snow Saturday here in Eastern New Mexico.....this has been one crazy spring!    80 degrees one day and snow the next.      We had to put all the hanging baskets in the green house over the week end to protect them from the cold,

Al Fresco Dining on the Porch

My favorite place to serve meals to the family  is at the farmhouse table on the front porch..... and  I couldn't wait to use my new place mats in a tablescape for a family dinner.
