Catch all Corner in the Backyard

Do you have a corner in the back yard that has become a "catch all" .   I think everyone does...don't you?   Well,  our "corner" had become an eyesore in the back yard that could no longer be ignored.

This corner is about an  8 x 8 area that is shaded by a large oak tree ...no grass will grow there.   I am excited to see if I can make this eyesore into an area that will no loner be a catch all,  but be a serene part of the back yard.    I had quite a few bird cages stacked in the corner....a set of wooden gate panels that we took down from a rent house that we have,   a tall ladder,  a scaffold ladder,   some black sacks of outdoor faux flowers....the list goes on and on so I think I have enough material to complete the project..

I plan to use materials that I have on hand as much as I can to create my little "room" in the corner of the yard.    H started the project by making a short wall with two windows that he put on top of the blue scaffold.    The bottom part of the wall is made from some old window screens .

Draggin Main

When I was a teenager,  you knew where to find me on Saturday night....down town draggin Main.   The car would be filled with my girlfriends,  the Beatles would be on the radio...what fun times.    We have a whole day set aside to enjoy the old times here in our little town.....come join the fun!

Junkin' on Saturday

We went to a yard sale on Saturday where the lady hosting it had been a big fan of Mary Engelbreit.   I was able to pick up a few items for my booth and a couple of things to add to my personal collection.

Switcharoo & Fairy Garden Mantle

I have been having fun switching some things around today.
I had changed the slip covers on the sofa and love seat in the family room a few weeks ago....and then the area rug didn't look like it matched very well.   Seems like if  you change ONE little thing....lol...and the whole room needs to be refreshed.

Growing Vegetables and Flowers

The flowers and vegetable plants in our yard are getting so big!    The leaves on this squash plant are about 12" across.   H planted vegetables in the vintage washing machines this year instead of his usual...... flowers.

Eastern New Mexico

We have had company from New York visiting since last Wednesday,  so  I 've been away from my computer.   We took a  little ride and I wanted to share some of the sight around where we live.
We have lots of wind farms in our area.    If you look real close at the sky line,  you can see rows of wind generators along the caprock.

Shabby Birdhouses

I was working in the front yard this morning and noticed how "shabby" my bird houses are looking.....should I paint them or not.    I like the shabby look,  but I don't want them to fall apart either.  Maybe  I could just put a sealer coat on them...any idea's?
