Cotton Boll Wreath and Weekend Treasure Hunt

We didn't have any auctions to go to over the Labor Day week end and very few yard sales,  but I did manage to pick up a few treasures.

Velvet Pumpkins Fall Centerpiece

I have been having so much fun making pumpkins for fall decorating.    First I made some faux fur pumpkins and now I am working on velvet ones.   I found this gorgeous cranberry colored velvet fabric at Hobby Lobby.   It is so soft and easy to work with...they also had black velvet so I made a few Halloween pumpkins.

Repurposing a Vintage Ladder

Our home has a very open floor's great... and I love it!   BUT....the down side to an open floor plan is that you have very few walls to display art on.    My solution to the problem was to use an old library ladder as an "oversized easel"!

Decorating our Granddaughters Bedroom

It's been a while since I have freshened  Kyleigh's room so I changed out a few of the accessories this morning.   She started ballet lessons last Wednesday,  so I decided to use some of her collector Barbies in the new vignettes.

Saturday at the Auction

We spent all day Saturday at one of the best auctions I have ever been to.    It was held in Friona, Texas,  a little town about 30 miles from here....only about  4000  people.  The estate they were selling belonged to a little lady that had just moved to a retirement home in Amarillo, Texas.   She had excellent taste and everything was of the best quality.
I was able to bring this gorgeous FF teapot home with me.....

Fall Potpourri

I planted sunflowers in our garden for the first time this summer and they have made a wonderful addition to our garden.     I have dried some of the larger flowers to use in a fall wreath.

Using Yard Sale and Auction Dishes to set the Table

I have a special table set for our lunch today using some of the new pieces I found at the auction and yard sales over the week end.     I  thought it would be fun to think out of the box and serve a "loaded" salad in my new silver chafing dish  ($12.50 at the auction)

New Chair for the Laundry Room

I have had the same chair at my desk in the laundry room for about 7 years.    I saw this one at the auction a few weeks ago and thought I would really like a rolling chair at the desk,   so I bought it.

Adding Architecture to a Plain Door

I freshened up the TV armoire yesterday,  and this morning I realized that the rest of the room could use a little refreshing too!

New Vignettes for the TV Armoire

Can anything be done to make your TV look like something other than a big black hole?     If you decorate with pastel colors like I do,  that black box that we can't seem to live without can become a eyesore in the!    I gave it my best shot this morning to perk our TV up and wanted to share the results with you.

Auction Dishes

This weeks auction was more of a "man thing"....lots of tools and guy stuff.    H bought a John Deere wagon to pull behind his lawn mower....I'll show you that later.  it was just the kind of auction that I love....girly things going really cheap since it was mostly men attending the auction!
