Saturday at the Auction

Saturday we went to the auction of an old school mates mother.    Her home and its contents were being auctioned off because she had moved to a retirement community.
She must have dabbled in ceramics because there were boxes of molds and quite a few pretty ceramic pieces.

Fall Tablescape

I got the bid on this gorgeous silver tea set at the auction a few weeks ago.    Some of the auction goers (is that a word???) said it was the deal of the day,  and I happily agreed.

Sunflowers Attack Potting Shed

We planted a wildflower garden on the west side of the Potting Shed this spring.   The bag of seed indicated that none of the flowers would be over 5' tall.......hummmmm.... these sunflowers are about twice that size.

Gone Junkin

We had a cold front pass thru eastern New Mexico over the week end.   Cloudy skies....cooler temps....feels like fall!

On Friday we drove over to Portales, NM  (about 20 miles from here)   There is a group of the sweetest ladies that have a sale once a year in one of the buildings at the fair grounds.

How to Make a Fall Wreath with Natural Materials

I made a fall wreath with all natural materials gathered from our yard,  the only addition was some stalks of grain from a nearby field.   You could easily substitute some natural grasses from your yard for the grain....let your imagination run wild!

Cotton Boll Wreath and Weekend Treasure Hunt

We didn't have any auctions to go to over the Labor Day week end and very few yard sales,  but I did manage to pick up a few treasures.

Velvet Pumpkins Fall Centerpiece

I have been having so much fun making pumpkins for fall decorating.    First I made some faux fur pumpkins and now I am working on velvet ones.   I found this gorgeous cranberry colored velvet fabric at Hobby Lobby.   It is so soft and easy to work with...they also had black velvet so I made a few Halloween pumpkins.

Repurposing a Vintage Ladder

Our home has a very open floor's great... and I love it!   BUT....the down side to an open floor plan is that you have very few walls to display art on.    My solution to the problem was to use an old library ladder as an "oversized easel"!

Decorating our Granddaughters Bedroom

It's been a while since I have freshened  Kyleigh's room so I changed out a few of the accessories this morning.   She started ballet lessons last Wednesday,  so I decided to use some of her collector Barbies in the new vignettes.
