Summer Vacation

Today was the last day of school and Kyleigh got out at 11:30, so we had the whole afternoon to have fun!   We haven't set up her pool yet, so she decided to run thru the sprinkler.....

Quick Decorating for Memorial DayI

If you haven't decorated for Memorial day yet, it's not too late!

Changes in the Back Yard

We have been working in the back yard for about two weeks..still a lot more to do, but we are getting there!    We had to move everything away from the house to paint the brick...so we are trying to give the house a fresh look as we put stuff back.    The first thing we did was add black shutters to the windows in the back yard.  We have had shutters in the front yard for several years, but none in the back.  We have trimmed a lot of the bushes next to the house.  The small bush in the right corner used to be huge!  It was taller than the house, rubbed on the trim and looked really "tired".  So we trimmed in to about 3' tall.  Now we can have a flower bed, nothing seemed to grow under that big bush!

I'm Co Hosting the Party at Fluster Buster!

This week's co-host and featured blogger is Penny from Penny's Vintage Home. Last week Penny shared her beautiful garden, specifically her Flower "Bed". Normally I'm not attracted to indoor furniture being put in the yard basically because most people don't do it right. But Penny is not most people, her garden is absolutely beautiful. When I first viewed her post the first thing I thought was "Tranquil". I would love to have such a tranquil place in my yard, but I couldn't do it as well as Penny.

Flags on the Clothesline!

I decided to do a flag display on the clothesline for Memorial Day, Schools out Day, Summer is here...I'm just Happy day!  My clothesline is hung between two vintage washing machines...and I actually do use this line sometimes!   Later this summer, H plans to paint our windmill white with pink tips.  Do you think he knows I love pink?

Tea Time

I put together a  tablescape with my new yard sale dishes and I wanted to show you the rest of the room   ( here is the link to the tablescape and buffet....  http://penny-pennystreasures.blogspot.com/2013/05/pinkqua-tablescape.html)

Grocery Cart Planter

H has been working on his vegetable garden the last couple of days!  We lined this old grocery cart with some burlap potato bags, filled it with potting soil and planted some flowers.....wait, I thought this was a vegetable garden!  Well, you had to know if I had a hand in it, there would be some flowers!  I thought the marigolds would help with the bug population....and I like the smell of lavender when I am in the garden.

Vintage Carpenter Box

I bought this old carpenter box at the auction last week....decided to turn it into a potting box!  I have it right next to the Hoosier Potting bench on the front porch   Here is the link to that post...http://penny-pennystreasures.blogspot.com/2013/05/hoosier-potting-bench.html

Hoosier Potting Bench

This is the first Hoosier that H and I bought.  It was just the top and H built a bottom for it.  I thought it might be cute to use as a potting bench on the front porch.

Shabby Chic Chickens

H and I have been sitting on the porch this afternoon...enjoying the warm weather.   We had to move everything off the porch to paint the brick and slowly we are putting things back!     I worked on this area the other day and have a place for us to sit and have a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of cold sweet tea in the afternoon.

Breakfast on the Porch

H and I are going to have a late breakfast on the front porch this morning.   The sun is shining and it's 65...a beautiful day!
