Roosters & Roses

I am so excited to show you the changes that we've made in our formal dining room.   I decided that we would use the room more if there were several cozy areas to sit and have tea or visit.  So...down came the big table that could seat 20!   Now, there is a small Duncan Phyfe in the center of the room that will seat 4-6 and several smaller seating areas.

With the new look in the dining room,    I needed a fresh theme...

.Roosters & Roses

(and maybe a few French!)

The roosters that I wanted to use had a lot of red paint on them....I wanted, out came the paint!

There is a flock of them  "roosting" on the mantle...
They have all been "crowing" about their new look.....

This is how the roosters on the mantle  looked before their makeover.   I used enamel paint from Hobby Lobby looks just like the enamel that is original to the roosters.

I dry brushed white paint over the cream bodies of this sweet couple   ...and changed their comb from orange to pink.
I didn't get a before picture of these sweeties...but their combs were a bright red.
I added a couple of roosters to the existing decor on the buffet that is on the back wall of the dining room.
Here is the left end of the buffet.

The "nest" by this rooster is a vintage hat.    I put a real nest in the hat and added some black and white ceramic eggs.
For this  roosters make over....   He got a pink comb,   I took the yellow out of his feet, and toned down the green grass that he is standing in.

Here is a close up of the wooden rooster on the right end of the buffet.

I have several cozy sitting areas around the room where we can sit and have a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.   I also pulled back the window coverings so we can see out side.

On the left of the table is a big ottoman.        I draped a lace throw over it.....

and now it's a perfect place to roost!
Another little area where we can sit and visit.

These roosters sit in the entrance to the dining room.  They both got a touch of pink added to them and I put a pink feather nest under the bigger one.

Since this post is already so long,  I will do a separate post to show you the dishes that I used for the tablescape.

 See you soon!
