| Welcome to the inside of our new greenhouse! The outside is not completely finished yet, but I hope to show you it later next week! |

| H done such a beautiful job on the potting station for the greenhouse! |
 |
| You may remember seeing this old door when I showed you my junk area that is behind the studio. |
 |
| H cut the door into two pieces to form the top shelf and the table top .... |
 |
| I drew a black line to show you where he cut it...forgot to get pictures of it cut. |
 |
| Here you can see the top shelf a little better. We have a pretty good stash of decorative wood pieces that we have accumulated over the years. We used some of them to spruce up the potting table! |
 |
| The two pieces on either side of the top shelf are rocker arms from a rocker that had completely fell apart! I drew a little pink line around the arm ....can you see the arm? |

| We used an old head board that was in my junk pile for the back on the bottom part of the potting table. |
 |
| H added another small shelf to hold some wicker baskets that will hold gardening supplies. |
 |
| The headboard was in pretty bad shape,,,, but it cleaned up pretty good...lol! |
|
| I wanted the wood on the potting table to have an old weathered look.... |
 |
| I am really pleased with the way it turned out..... |
 |
| The wood looks pretty old...huh? |
 |
| I don't have any live plants in the greenhouse yet....just a few silk flowers.... |
 |
| But, I have lots of seed in my wicker baskets.... |

| and H & I going to start planting later next week! |
 |
| So, by repurposing some existing pieces that we had..... |

| I have a beautiful potting table....thank you H! |

I think you should keep him around! Bet he's as proud of this greenhouse as your are. I hope he's a gardener and will be a big helper for you. ReplyDeletePenny, your two are so great at re purposing things that I giggle when I see some of the things you do..and hurry off to copy you. For example your lamps your re purposed into birds nest holders...I did it with some candle sticks I found at a garage sale a long time ago. I love them. I will show them tomorrow if I remember. :) You are SUCH an inspiration!! :) I get so tickled when I see you have stopped by!! :):)

ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you and have to admit, insanelyl jealous lol! I had a huge greenhouse years ago (not a pretty one) when I had a dried flower business. I miss being able to go out in the dead of winter and have the smell and warmth of spring surround me. Someday I hope to have a pretty little greenhouse like yours. I love how all the pieces together much such an eclectic look...I thought you had purchased it and I was going to ask you boldly where you found such a beauty! But, since you broke everything down, I see it in a new light and can make out the salvaged pieces. AND I LOVE IT! You and H are too creative! I'm afraid that I wouldn't have been able to put everything together to make such a neat piece. It's just stunning! I can't wait to see the rest!

ReplyDeleteI came across your blog by ways of you being featured on The Chicken Chicks blog. What a wonderful happenstance. I would love a little more detail such as how you went about achieving the paint on the potting bench. I love re purposing stuff but no matter how I try the old weathered look it never works. Please if it's not a secret tell us how you did the paint? Did you have to strip or sand the wood first? How did you mix the paint for the affect? Thank you and I am so happy to have happenstanced across your blog.
ReplyDeleteHi! I would love to share my "technique"...lol! I didn't do any prep...other than to scrap off some peeling paint on the headboard. I always use a new brush.....dip the end of it very lightly in your paint....do a couple of strokes on a piece of scrap wood..and use the little bit of paint left on the brush for your "real" project.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a very light hand and several light coats to get the effect. If you don't have real weathered wood, you might try a coat of grey paint, and then add your other color over that. Let me know how it turns out for you! Hugs, Penny
