In the past, I have hung a vintage ornament ball wreath on this arched window, but this year I needed angel wings to complete my Christmas theme in the family room. |
I shopped for wooden wings, but the weight seemed too much to hang on the window. Also, I like the natural light that comes in thru the window from the formal living/dining room. |
I looked at the lace wings, but they were out of my budget.....so....... |
Cost? Almost nothing because I had everything on hand....even the frosted carnations were a 80% off buy several years ago. |
I tied a few bows around the wings just to give it some extra texture, and I tied some rag strips to the very end of the wing. |
My project took less than an hour. |
See how I tied the strips to the bottom of the wing/ |
Here is the view from the living room into the family room. Just a sneak peek! I have my trees up but not decorated yet. |
Great Idea for the Angel Wings.....Very Nice!

Good Morning Penny
ReplyDeleteThe Angel wings are by far my favorite project you have made* Love them so much. I would love to know where you got the wire because I want to make some now. Love the material you chose and the flowers are gorgeous with them. You really are quite creative. Love the shabbiness of them. Love love love your coloring book. I have quite a few of them. I just sent one to a friend who is healing from surgery. Its so relaxing to sit and color isn't it. I adore coloring. Please Penny can you let us know where you got the wire. Thanks

Good Morning Deezie, I buy my wire in the construction area at Lowes. It is used to wire concrete forms together and should be over near the rebar. I call it baling wire, but you should ask the salesman for concrete form wire. I used three thickness'es of wire......wrapped them tight with fabric, then formed my angel wings. It just makes my day when I see that you have stopped by.....hugs......
DeleteThanks Penny, My contractor was just here and I asked him about the wire and can you believe he had some in his truck that he just gave me. I am so excited. Enjoy your day and weekend. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly :)

Making your own wings was a great idea. I love the pictures of the coloring book pages---kitties!!!
ReplyDeleteYour wreath is sooooo pretty. I especially like the idea that you made it yourself. Saves money and is uniquely your creation. I think I'm inspired to do the same thing since I have an angel tree in white that I hang angel wings on; all in white. I'll make large wings like your wings and make the entire room angel themed. Thank you for your blog and creative decorating.
ReplyDeleteLove your wings...thats really a great idea. Thanks for sharing, Sandi

You did a wonderful job on the angel wings, Penny. When my kids were growing up I was always crafting something because money was in short supply in those days. You always have a wonderful sense of accomplishment when you have finished a great project. Thanks for sharing with us and have a wonderful week.
