Shabby Angel Wings

  In the past,  I have hung a vintage ornament ball wreath on this arched window,  but this year I needed angel wings to complete my Christmas theme in the family room.

I shopped for wooden wings,  but the weight seemed too much to hang on the window.   Also,  I like the natural light that comes in thru the window from the formal living/dining room.    

I looked at the lace wings,  but they were out of my budget.....so.......

I decided to make my own.  
 It was a simple quick project.     I made my form from heavy baling wire,  then just wrapped strips of fabric  (left over from my cushion redo)   around the wire.    I tied a bouquet of frosted carnations to the center and hung my wreath.

Cost?   Almost nothing because I had everything on hand....even the frosted carnations were a 80% off buy several years ago.

I tied a few bows around the wings just to give it some extra texture,   and I tied some rag strips to the very end of the wing.

My project took less than an hour.

I am trying.....notice I said trying....  to simplify my Christmas decorating this year.    I have been taking frequent breaks to just relax.      I'm not one to just sit and do nothing....or watch TV,  but I have enjoyed coloring.   Yes I said coloring!   Have you seen the new adult coloring books in HL  Michaels and Barnes and Noble...just to name a few  stores.     I was surprised at how relaxing it can be to just let your mind go idle and color!   

There are all kinds of themed coloring books..... Ky and I picked out a 30 page cat book to share.    I have finished one page and Ky is about half thru with her page.    It has taken me about 7 hours to complete my  "work of art"  but I have just worked on breaks and while watching TV in the evening.    I may frame a couple of pages,  but I plan to leave most of them in the book after they are colored as a memory book for Ky.
