Big Changes on the Front Porch

H and I haven't bought NEW outdoor furniture in more than 15 years,   and we decided it's about time!    We've bought lots of neat pieces at yard sales but most of them are not safe to sit in anymore....lol!    
I can't wait to show you the new look,   but fist I wanted to share how we moved out all the pieces that were under the protected part of the porch.     If  I expect the new furniture to last and last,  it needs to be under the protected part of the porch.

The first thing we moved out from the protected part of the porch  was the vintage iron baby bed.

Next we moved out the wicker chairs.   I always tell the bigger grandsons that they might not hold them....so, sit on something more sturdy!     I bought these chairs at a yard sale several years ago and paid $2.50 each!    I am going to try to find a place for them in the greenhouse to get a few more years out of them.

When you first saw the canopy cover that I made for my umbrella from yard sale curtains,    I had a metal love seat under it.   The love seat found a new home out in the backyard to make room for the baby bed.

The repurposed washing machine tub you see in front of the metal glider found a new home on the back porch deck.

 

I bought a few outdoor pillows to use in the baby bed.

I still need to spray my pillows with that stuff that makes them repel water.

It's easy to pull off the clothes pins and let the curtain sides down to protect the fabric a little when it rains.....which is seldom in Eastern New Mexico!

 

H and I are going to have a lite lunch on the porch today.......

Easy to clean up paper plates and napkins.        I only had a few roses in bloom today,  but the bush in the front yard was full of blooms.......

These plants are heat tolerant and require very little water......

The next thing we moved out from under the porch cover was a worn out wicker settee.    The seat was gone so H put chicken wire across the seat area and made a planter out of it.      This isn't the permanent home for this piece......I'll show you where it lands later.

I've added another birdhouse to the seat since you last saw it......

I have my easels on the side of the bed for now,   but they will be moved again before I'm finished.

 

I need to find a pot big enough to hold these daisies and move them to a sunnier location.
