Repurposed Swing Frame

15 years ago when we bought this frame,   it had a wicker settee hanging from it.    We have spent many hours sitting in that swing.....just swinging back and forth......But sadly the other day the wicker swing fell apart and couldn't be repaired.     I didn't want to get rid of the frame so I decided to repurpose it ....and here's how we did it!

I attached a shower curtain to the left over frame for shade.......

Then I placed 2 wicker lounges in the area where the wicker swing used to hang.    Now instead of swinging.....H & I can lay in our lounges and spend the afteroon drinking iced tea and enjoying the summer.

The canvass cover that originally came on the swing wore out many years ago.    This is how H fixed the left over canapy to hold a different kind of cover.

Chicken wire is how he fixed it!
H attached chicken wire to the empty frame with hose clamps and that enabled me to cover the frame with a light weight sheet or other fabric without it falling between the bars.

I attached my shower curtain to the frame by threading fabric thru the holes that the shower curtain rings would normally go    Then I just tied the curtain to the frame.

Here's another angle showing how I attached the shower curtain to the frame......and also how the hose clamps hold the chicken wire on.

If it's really sunny I let the shower curtain loose on the back for more shade.    Today I chose to tie the back of the shower curtain together  and attach it to the back of the frame.

Here's another angle showing how I tied the shower curtain  the frame.

I'm loving the new look....although I will miss the swing.

Thank you so much for stopping by......I always enjoy your visits so much!

  1. Good morning,
You and Mr H are so creative. I love how you turn nothing into a wonderful something to enjoy.
Chicken wire has so many uses, but I would not have thought about it as a frame work for your shower curtain. The shower curtain idea you shared years back has stuck with me. When you covered the wall with that beautiful scene. I am going to use your idea to cover a wooden divider between my neighbor and me. There is a wooden piece of fencing as a divider, might as well not be there, so I am going to put up a bamboo shade and over that a beautiful tropical shower curtain. I will change it with the seasons. My neighbor is nice, but I don't like someone to come running out every time I am on my patio.
    Thanks for your wonderful ideas.

  3. This is such a good idea, no need to ditch something that is still perfectly useable. I'm hoping the old seat didn't collapse with anyone on it!
