Vintage Salt & Pepper Shakers

I have never collected salt & pepper shakers before, but there was a box of them at the auction the other day that caught my eye.
The box contained an assortment of other vintage items in addition to the salt & pepper shakers...
I loved these pretty floral ones.  There is only one  set, but I will use the other 4 singles to display a collection of hat pins that I have.

I can use the rabbits in an Easter tablescape.....

Aren't these some fun salt & pepper shakers.....love the pigs!

There was a vintage child's plate in the box....

These little dishes will be great to hold potpourri, candy, jewelry, buttons...........

I love to go to the auction...I always find lots of treasures!

  2. I think the "Campbell Soup Kids" child's plate made by Buffalo China was made in the early 1900's. I have my dad's . Several years ago it was listed for nearly $100. You did "GOOD"

  4. These items are so adorable! I love the cute little animals shakers...I had some tall, yellow cat shakers, but they weren't practical at all- they were like 20 cm big. But I had them for ages cos they looked cute :)

  15. If any do not have corks (or holes for them) in the bottom, then they may be hat pin holders!

  18. What a lovely post.
I love old salt and peppers, too!
I have a collection of old floral ones displayed on a vanity tray in my bathroom and a collection of old milk glass ones displayed on a silver tray in my kitchen. The old porcelain ones in the bathroom hold powders and bath salts. The ones in the kitchen hold ground spices.
    Yours are beautiful!
Hope you will pop over for a visit.
    Wishing you a wonderful week.

  27. I don't collect S & P shakers either, but like you, I have a weakness for the handpainted porcelain ones. Your child's plate is very nice, and I think it is worth a bit of money. Love the other porcelain dishes you bought. Great finds!!!

  29. what a great find. I inherited one third of my grandmother's salt and pepper shaker set when she died back in 1970. I was in college then, but stored then until I had my own home. I have about 30 sets shelved in an old post office sorting shelf. Our granddaughters play with them when they play house. I love looking at them and remembering my grandmother.
