Longest Yard Sale!

We have been on the Longest Yard Sale three times!!!  We didn't get to go this year, so I was looking thru my photo's, remembering how much fun it was!  Even if you are not a "junk" shopper like I am, the drive is so beautiful that it is worth the trip!  Howard!!!!  Slow down, everything is a blurr on the side of the road!!

You have single sales at someones house!

Love the way they used their boxes to make stands for the tables!  What a way to repurpose!

You have multiple venders set up together!  You nearly always have rain so be sure to take an umbrella and plenty of's hot!!

Here is Mr. Penny looking at another wash tub!  He collects old wash tubs and wringers!

Sanford and Son!

Lots of shops to stop at!

You see lots of tobacco fields.

Lots of old signs for sale.

Old tractors and falling down buildings.

It is a good place to find old doors and windows.

And architectural  pieces.

This is an old school that has been converted into an antique shop.  Howard bought an old firetruck pedal car here and I got some silver pieces.  I wish that I could remember what town this is in,  it is a great place to stop!

I love the way they make fences with old stacked rocks.   I hope you have enjoyed seeing some photo's of the yard sale.   I am joining the treasure hunt at

Follow me over to a great party at

I am showing how I thrift at

  1. I have always wanted to do this sale. I loved the Sanford and son truck.:):) Smiles, Susie

  3. Lots of fun and interesting finds I'm sure! I'm a new follower...over from Debbiedoo's. I look forward to more of your talent. The beautiful garden post is delightful!

Stop by and say hi when you can ~

  4. The sign looks as if it says Farmers, Kentucky. Don't remember that place when we went on the worlds longest yard sale. Of course that was many years ago. I am planning on doing it again sometime. We had a great time. Just wish I would have taken notes on where the best places to stop were. I do remember a little town that we walked through late afternoon that was so pretty and had some good finds. By Saturday afternoon I pretty much said I was finished and my dear chauffeur decided he needed to stretch his legs so we stopped one last time. So glad we did I bought a 5+ foot hand painted Santa that has been used most years on my front porch at Christmas. Definitely my favorite treasure.

  5. Hi Penny,
I have always wanted to go to the longest yard sale..but I live in I would have to drive to the sale and drive back just to bring back all the goodies I would buy.

  9. How fun--love those old doors! I don't think I have ever seen a tabacco field before. We must not have them in Oregon!

  10. I always wanted to go to the longest yard sale. Just never comes at the right time seems always doing something else at that time. Maybe one day... The truck Sanford and son pic. My husband would love that old truck.. Thanks for sharing all. I feel like I almost was there. Hugs, Cindy

  11. Penny,
I have seen this on HGTV for several years now and would be drooling at the thought of getting to go to something like this!!
I used to go yard saling every weekend and would hit about 15-30 yard sales in a day. I guess age is creeping up because after working all night, the thought of running around like that does not appeal to me anymore as I am too tired so I would rather go one place like a flea market or the thrift shops.
but I would still love to be able to go on the Longest Yard Sale route for even just a bit....

  12. Now that this longest yard sale has made it up to Michigan, I am going to plan around it for a camping/yard saling vacation next summer! I am going to meet a couple of girlfriends and we we all be taking our travel trailers and camping and thrifting! Woohoo! Thanks for taking us along on your adventure and sharing it with all of us at TTF!

  13. I will have to live vicariously through your photographs as we don't have the Longest Yard Sale up here in Canada.
