New Furniture Arrangement in the Dining Room

I wanted to share some of the changes that we've made in the formal dining room.
There were two Duncan Phyfe tables in the center of the room...together, they made one large table (could seat about 20 people).   Now that the holidays are over, I don't need a  big table.  So, we took all the leaves out of one of the tables and left it in the center of the room.   We did some minor adjustments to the other one and it is now a desk!   There's a photo of it further down in the post......

This photo shows how the dining room looked at Thanksgiving.   The large table took up most of the room.   Now with the smaller table, I have some extra room at the ends of the dining room.   I put two chairs in front of the china cabinet on the left....pop back up to the photo above this one and you can see how it looks now.

This is just a peek at the new theme for the dining room....Roosters & Roses.   When it is finished I will post a tour of the completed dining room.
Here's another little peek.....
We seldom used the formal dining room except on holidays.   There was really no where else to sit except at that huge table, can't you just see H and I sitting there for a meal.  Me at one end of the table and him waayyyy down at the other!  So,  I have broke up the room into several little sitting areas.

I store my Desert Rose dishes in the china cabinet behind the two chairs.  The basic set belonged to my grandmother.  I have added lots of accessory pieces since I've had it.  The tea set in the bottom center of the cabinet was a Christmas gift to me from my mom.
I do use our Desert Rose on special occasions, why not....if something gets broken, you can usually buy a replacement piece!

Here is how the opposite end of the dining room looks now.  In the right corner, you can see the Duncan Phyfe "desk"
Is everyone ready for Valentines day?   H and I almost never go out...the restaurants are so crowded...not very romantic to me!   We will have a wonderful dinner here at home!
