It was time for a change....not a big change...just a little one......lol!
I wasn't really tired of the mantle scarf that had been on my mantle for several years, but I wanted a change.
I still wanted the scarf to be a neutral color that I could use year round, but I wanted it to look a little shabbier. |
I also wanted it to be lace instead of cotton..... |
As you can see in the before and after photo's, I made the scarf quite a bit longer than in was before. |
I had bought this fireplace opening cover at the auction a while back for $2 and it had just been taking up space in the garage. I even thought about getting rid of it.
I remembered to take a "before" photo after H had already painted the sides of it white. I covered the wood center with satin and lace. I know you can't see it very well behind that heater, but that old heater is heavy and I didn't want it moved again. |
Here is a little better picture of the fireplace "screen". It is actually just a decorative cover for when the fireplace is not in use. It was in the high 70's today, so I'm hoping that we won't need to use it again for a while! |
I made some cloth roses to adorn the front of the mantle scarf...... |
I also tore some strips of fabric..... |
I recovered the chandy lamp shades with lace....they were pink satin before.
