I love vintage tablecloths and I was wondering if I could make a table runner for our breakfast bar without cutting up one of my pretty vintage cloths.
I carefully folded my tablecloth to the size that I needed for the breakfast bar. I used stiff spray starch and ironed my folded cloth. I tacked vintage pink aprons to each end of my runner. I didn't have two aprons that matched...of course....so, |
I used a pretty pink gingham checked one for the other end. This apron is what I call a 3/4 apron.....it has the arms, but is short like a regular apron. |
In the past, I have used my vintage tablecloths as back covers on the dining chairs in the sun room. |
The runner that I had on the bar earlier had lots of yellow in it, but the new one has blue...what's a girl to do? |
Well,,,, she sets the breakfast bar with pretty blue/white dishes.....
Tucks some touches of blue to the existing vignettes around the kitchen counters. |
Now, my kitchen has a fresh new look!
I made a simple floral design from some small branches that H cut from our ornamental pear trees that line the front driveway. The trees are in full bloom and even have some small green leaves out. |
Look at that gorgeous blue New Mexico sky.... |
It's a wonderful day to sit on the front porch and sip sweet tea.... |

Is that a Limoges set? I think a lot of ladies are using Limoges this week, including me! Like the teapot...is it Fiesta? Love your collection of vintage tablecloths and linens. Thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Hello Penny and Happy Spring! I see Spring has really arrived in your part of the world. How lovely! We still have mountains of snow and we don't expect to see grass at least for six weeks, there is so much of the white stuff. You have such a pretty kitchen and I love your bunny as well as the blue chocolate pot. Your china setting at the bar is very sweet. I'm so glad you shared with us and joined me for tea this week.

Love your kitchen. Gorgeous china and your bunny just "yells" Spring! I did not know you lived in NM. I lived there for 23 years and I miss those gorgeous blue skies! Happy Tea Day!

You are SO far ahead of me in decorating! I am doing it bit by bit..but so late finishing up. SO...think it's going to be my sunner theme for the most part. Bunnies are staying out..eggs will go and any Easter signs etc. What do you think? There is just so much to put everything out..Bunnies are Summertime...don't you think? I respect your opinion.

Shoot! I meant to make comment on your little breakfast counter decor...which it just so cute. I love the two different aprons. Wouldn't a lacy hanky be sweet in the pocket of the pink apron? I LOVE aprons. I never thought of using them as you have...I love it!!!

ReplyDeleteI do live that sweet counter bar.... I can never get over how big your kitchen is. It definitely looks like Spring there. We still have some snow banks and today, temps. are predicted to not get out of the 30's with snow showers!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Penny, Your kitchen is definitely a breath of Spring with all of it's Easter and Spring treasures displayed so prettily on the counters. Your breakfast bar is charming with the vintage china set on a vintage tablecloth trimmed at either end with vintage aprons. The snow is almost completely melted from yesterday's flurries in my neighborhood. I hope that we will have some daffodils blooming within a week or two. Once I see the daffodils in my own yard it will feel like Spring is here to me too.
ReplyDeleteOh my your home is just Lovely, such a creative idea for your runner, Love it! your little spring decorations all around your kitchen are so sweet and love your front porch decorating too!!
