When we drove past this gorgeous old home the other day, I thought to myself ....pure elegance |
I couldn't resist taking some photo's as we drove past. |
. |
I think a young family lived here as there was a playground around back. (I didn't get a photo's of it ) I thought the ladder into the tree was such a cute idea. |

Penny,
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!! They used to call these big white homes "Wedding Cake" Homes because the columns and other details made them look like a wedding cake!!

I have no idea what part is my favorite, however as I looked at the photos, I wondered: who lives there, what are their lives like, what do they do for a living, do they host parties? It's such a beautiful home! Have a great night! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI love all the porches and I love the grand property...Thank you for joining the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop.
ReplyDeleteJoyously,
Betty @ My Cozy Corner Co-Hostess at Katherines Corner.
It is so loveky and seems to have a new metal roof!
ReplyDeleteI like the large columns also. Columns gives a home class.
ReplyDeleteAlso the garage doors. How many and what kind of vehicles do they have???
ReplyDeleteIt's so fab. Try to think of a better word to describe it. It would be nice to see the inside.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, especially the window trim & the balconies. So gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the tree ladder also, and the covered porches! So beautiful! Thanks for linking up at Celebrate It!
ReplyDeleteI always wonder what one does in life to live in a home like that. My homes have always been small and humble. I think the WHITE of the home is what makes it stunning...and all the tree's...just beautiful. WHO are they? Reminds me of the White House.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I so much enjoyed seeing this lovely home. Now I want to see the inside. In what city is this beautiful home? So happy to discover this post on "Best of the Weekend"!

ReplyDeleteI think this is a new home, not an old home. Old homes didn't have attached garages. I have a large home sort of like this and I can answer the questions of your readers who want to know what do the owners of a home like this do. My husband is an entrepreneur who has several diverse businesses, but mainly he is a CPA who loves to help other small business owners. The inside of our home is no different from anyone else's. I go to thrift shops to get good deals on furnishings, because older furniture is better made and why pay full price for decorative items? I love art and buy from local artists so prices are low there too. And yes, it's a pain to keep a big house clean! It's not all its cracked up to be to live in a big house. Just multiply your chores, and that's what it's like. Unless you're lucky enough to be ultra rich and can find good trustworthy housekeeping help. Good luck with that these days. Anyway, beautiful house, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, thank you so much for your input. I think the garage may be an update to the original home. This home is located in a very old area of Amarillo Texas. Judging by the mature trees and surrounding homes, I don't think it is new,,,,,but I could be wrong...lol! hugs...
DeleteWow that is quite the mansion, and such a pretty yard too. My favorite would have to be the porches, when we bought our house I had to have a porch :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!

Cindy
