Short Fat Christmas Tree

I put this tree up about 8 or 9 days ago.....got the lights on it about a week ago....and finally got it decorated today!
I made this tree last year from "tree parts" and I have a link to the post where I showed how I constructed it further down this post.

Since the tree sits on the pass thru from the family dining room and kitchen,   this side will be decorated in  a Nutcracker theme to match the dining room and the other side will be decorated in the kitchen's theme  (to be revealed later...lol)   I've never done a two themed tree.....I'll let you know how that works out for me!.

I had to steal the Rat King and Ballerina from the centerpiece on the dining table to put on the tree,     I put a few ceramic Nutcracker pieces in their place....until Thanksgiving.     I will put a simple fall centerpiece on the table because we will have to use this table and the one in the formal dining area for our dinner.

Here's how my centerpiece  looked earlier............................................................  and now

Here's the Rat King hanging proudly in the center of the tree....

I have decorated the tree with Ballet themed ornaments.....

My new piece this year for the Nutcracker tree is a felted mouse ballerina........

Since the orchestra is such a big part of the ballet,   I have added instruments to the vignettes around the room and music notes to the tree.

I was in a little antique shop in Amarillo Texas yesterday and saw a piece of stained glass exactly like the one in my window.    It had been 400 but was marked down to $200!    I paid less than $20 for mine at the auction a few years ago.

I have vintage glass beads under the tree and my blue Nutcracker and the only Ballerina I have with a blue tutu.

I try to add a Nutcracker to my collection every year,  and this pretty pink and black one is for 2015.

This is how the short fat tree looked last year.    I used a wheel chair as my tree stand and the tree was in the kitchen last year     Here is the link with photo's of how I assembled the tree from "tree parts"       http://penny-pennystreasures.blogspot.com/2014/10/how-to-make-short-fat-christmas-tree.html

Here is my short fat tree in 2014.

This year the tree is sitting on the 6 foot  built in cabinet that H added to the kitchen this past summer.

In less than two weeks,   we will be eating a wonderful turkey dinner at this table!

  3. Your tree isn't Fat, it's Fluffy!, LOL. Very cute...and I used to do two way trees in my shop window... outside was general seasonal and inside was always a garden theme. Great idea, can't wait for the kitchen, Sandi

  4. Penny,
Love how you have used the tree between rooms. and I love how you decorated the tree. Did you make your own decorated bottle brush trees? They are so pretty. I want to get the whole house decorated first and then i hope to do some Christmas crafting. Then I will tweak things. I am going to have an extra 4 foot tree since i got rid of the large table in our bedroom where i used to put that tree. I am trying to think of another place for it........

    Hugs,
    Deb

  9. Short, fat, and beautiful you might add! Creative idea to do a two themed tree. I think the two themes will mesh nicely. What a bargain you got on your stained glass. It is simply gorgeous! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
