Repurposing a Vintage Cash Register

H and I bought this vintage cash register at an estate sale several years ago for $1.,,,,,and  it has been just sitting in the garage since.
I may have mentioned that we are getting ready to have a series of garage sales this year,  so when I saw it still sitting,   I realized that I needed to get rid of it!

Well,   let's don't rush into anything just yet.....maybe I could repurpose it into something useful or pretty!    I ruled out pretty right away....that's not a word I would use to describe  an old cash register.

So,  H and I put our heads together and this is what we came up with.

The old typewriter stand is one that H used in his office at the freight lines for many years.

I asked H to take the front cover off so I could see the insides of the cash register....and of course,  I couldn't resist planting a few succulents in the "works".

By putting the side table up on the typewriter stand and turning the cash register around,   I had a place to extend the drawer.

The top of the register was missing,  so H put a board across it and nailed an old safe drawer (also from his office) across the top of the board.   I filled the safe drawer with violets and succulents.

The cash register drawer is perfect for napkins......

Candles, small snacks, drinks......anything we might need while we sit on the porch

I couldn't resist picking up a pot of Ranunculus at Home Depot over the week end.

Have a wonderful week.....see you soon!
