I have picked up several vintage enamel wash bowls over the years. I think they looks so sweet planted with broken plates and miniature plants. |
I gathered up my chipped and broken dishes to create a 'junk garden' to put under the maple tree. |
I pick up small items at yard sales to use in my fairy and junk gardens. I found this Precious Moments house and two sweet children at a sale Saturday for $3. |
I have another junk garden to the side of the wash pan. I have it filled with chipped plates and a duck that I found for a dollar Saturday. |
I love to create little gardens, and I also love to "play". I had fun moving things around in my wash pan and the little garden next to it. |
I moved the house over to the left corner and put three birdhouses in its place..... |
I took the duck and two small plates out of the garden by the wash pan and put my little boy on a broken tea cup... |
In the end, I liked this arrangement the best.....with the house in the center and the little boy and girl playing together. |

Dear Penny:
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling "junk" garden! It reminds me of something my Grandmother would have done. She never had much money but was creative and loved gardening. Your yard is looking very fun! Thanks for sharing and linking.
A lovely display! Just moving into a condo with my boyfriend makes me miss having a good gardening space. Maybe the neighbors won't mind if I spruce up the building's entire perimeter with fairies, gnomes, and dish ware? I can dream.

ReplyDeleteThanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!
I've never seen anything like these - and I LOVE THEM!!
ReplyDeletePenny that is adorable!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I should start looking for small garden ornamental pieces, never thought of it before seeing all your adorable little gardens Penney. Never thought would be so interested in doing things like that but you have totally inspired me. Now to keep dog from routing out my creations. He is so curious, has to lick and smell anything that comes in house and yards. Did I see a Desert Rose tea cup? Now will be looking for less than perfect dishes also. See what you've started? What fun. Happy week
ReplyDeleteThis is really pretty Penny. In my town there is a house where they took vintage plates and shoved them into the ground half way standing up, all around there shrubs and trees to make a border. Very cute. Thanks for linking up to Merry Monday! Sharing on Twitter! Have a great week!
