Summer Centerpiece for the Outdoor Great Room

I wanted to make a pretty good sized centerpiece for the farmhouse style table in the outdoor great room,   but I didn't have very many flowers available in the garden.

I have a few tips to make a few flowers look like a lot more.

Use a lot of greenery!

 My asparagus ferns are lush a full,  so I just cut several stems to use in my centerpiece.

  Mix potted plants in with your cut flowers.   The white cone flowers in the back are in small pots.

Here is a tip I have used for years.......    
Use the dried flowers from previous centerpieces as filler.   If you let your roses dry in a vase of water,  the stem will be strong and the dried petals will stay put for quite a while.    See how pretty the dried pink roses look mixed in with the fresh roses!

Adding another element to the front or side of the centerpiece makes your bouquet look visually bigger.    ( I added a group of ducks on a silver platter to the front of my centerpiece)    If you scroll back up to the second photo in this post,  you can see how I added two platters of ducks to make my centerpiece look bigger.

Think out of the box .....use dill, sage,  or parsley to fill in around your fresh flowers

In addition to using asparagus fern and dill flowers,   I cut a stems of purple Russian sage to use as filler with my fresh flowers.

So to sum it up.....my centerpiece contains 4 pink roses,  3 pink dahlia's and 2 peach rose buds....the rest is filler!
