Fall Centerpiece

We have been enjoying family meals on the farmhouse table that's on the front  porch all summer,  but with the arrival of fall it's time to gather the family at the big table in the family room.   I have married two DP tables to make a large table that will seat "the gang"

Our daughter and SIL have 4 children..... her daughter is engaged  (wedding will be the 9th of Dec)  and the youngest son has a long time girlfriend,  so when they all come over to eat  this table will seat the 10 of us comfortably.

I wanted to design a centerpiece for our family dinners......

I was anxious to use the tiered stand that I had bought at an estate sale last week end,  so I  used it as the base for my centerpiece.
My tiered stand is also a lamp,  but I tucked the cord under the base since I was not going to use it as a lamp this time.

I gathered small things from around the house to put on the tiers,    My fall tree has tons of stuff on it,  so a few things "borrowed" from it won't be missed....lol!

I started my centerpiece by  lining each tier with a thin layer of excelsior,   then I tucked my small items in.

I set two place settings at the table to give you an idea of what it would look like,but....for family dinners,  I don't set the table.    I have all the food and plates on the kitchen island ......guests can fill their plate at the island and come sit down at the table to eat.

Below are some close ups of my centerpiece....

I hung a Give Thanks banner across the lit cabinet that sets to the north side of the table......

I plan to replace the Give Thanks banner with a Halloween one later......

I will add Halloween decor to the existing fall centerpiece later.     I will do a post when I do that to show you how easy and quick that can be done!

  7. I just bought the same Miss Suzy (aka squirrel) for a quarter at a local thrift! I love the roses you have on the right side of the place settings which match your plates. Looking forward to getting fall decor together here but spent the day base coating 6 of many ceramic houses I bought over the course of the summer- again, inspired by your beautiful ideas. P.S. It didn't take me all day to do the base coating. I also recorded my first contribution to our Christmas cd on the organ. "The Coventry Carol"...
