Spring Floral Design using Birch Bark

I wanted to share how I made a spring floral design using birch bark.    I'm not very good  at making  tutorials,  but my post has plenty of up close photo's to give you inspiration if you want to try your hand at making a design for your home.

So,  here goes......

But first let me get something cold to drink in my "Penny's Vintage Home" Yeti that my daughter and family gave me for Christmas....love this cup!     I drink way too much Diet Cream Soda...lol!

I used a yard sale cake pan as the container for my spring centerpiece.    I wedged styrofoam into the pan....leaving some spaces around the edges.    The moss is from Hobby Lobby and the birch paper is from Amazon  (it is in stock now and is about $6 for about 7 feet of it)    .

I filled in the spaces with moss that is standing up rather than laying down.    Then I covered the top of the stryofoam with sheets of moss.
I used twine to tie the birch paper around the cake pan.

Then I just started adding greenery,  spring flowers,  sheep.......

Succulents.....

fabric roses......

small cabbages......
You can see in this photo how I let moss and fern hang over the birch paper.

I hope this has given you some ideas for your own spring floral design.    I would love to see your creation.......please share!

  4. Your idea could easily be adapted for live small flowering plants and greenery by using extra moss and floral foam or dirt. I love the look, and I think I have to try one for the back yard. Thanks for the great ideas, Sandi

  11. Penny, I love the rabbit and duck prints in the first photo and the sheep in the arrangement. Were these one of your many yard sale finds or are they available online?
I believe birch bark is available at Joann Fabrics also.
