Installing Beefy Chunky Moulding and More Changes in the Entry

I was taking some photo's in the entry for a blog post the other day and like I usually do.........trying to avoid getting the dated wallpaper border in the photo.         Then it struck me like a bolt of lighting.....DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Instead of taking down the wallpaper border and replacing it with a new one..........I thought I would like s "beefy chunky moulding" better.     It was so easy to install the moulding right over the existing wallpaper border.      H put a piece of crown at the top.....next the widest moulding we could find.......and then finished it off with a small piece at the bottom.

H did a fantastic job of installing the new moulding.........he's a keeper for sure.

BEFORE...................................................AFTER
Oh,   and did you notice that the molding isn't the only change?

I took down the tea cup and saucer displays and replaced them with my favorite picture.      This picture hung in my office til I retired about 10 years ago........then I've had it in the master bath until now.      I still love love it as much as I did the day I bought it!

It is such a peaceful picture.........

I love how the chandy on the opposite wall reflects in the picture.....almost looks like it's hanging on the porch.

I hung a Farm House sign over my picture and made a floral spray to put across the top.....

I keep sheep out year round.....not just at Spring and Easter!

I have a similar vignette on the other side of the picture.

I made a rag garland for each side of the picture and put a metal flower holder on each side to.      I have faux flowers in them today,    but I can't wait to fill them with a live rose later.      Won't the entry smell wonderful then!

Thank you for stopping by........come back soon!

  2. What a great idea--the molding. Wonder if I could do that in my kitchen to cover up the dated border. My cupboards go all the way to the ceiling so I don't know how the molding would look butted up to the edges of the cupboards. Hmmmn. Have to explore that.

The picture of the rocker on the porch is a lovely, serene scene. I like the hues of white and off-white used, too.

    Thanks for sharing!

  3. Penny,
Love the molding!! Very Victorian looking my friend!!!!! LOL!! And the picture is fantastic!! It reminded me of when I was a young girl and would vacation every year at one of the old hotels at the Jersey shore that had a huge wrap around porch filled with rockers!! The year before I graduated high school, they torn down the Hotel and we started staying at a family owned Motel when we went to the shore.....But I will never forget that front porch and those rockers......Thanks for bringing back a lot of wonderful memories!!!
    Hugs,
    Deb

  5. Hello Penny, your hallway looks so welcoming, cheerful, and is so gorgeous, with the pretties you created yourself, combined with the beautiful woodwork. So beautifully romantic, inviting, and serene. Thank you for sharing it with us at Simply Neutrals Tuesday, it's a pleasure to meet you and your beautiful blog. Wishing you a wonderful day, xx Wen of AppleApricot

  6. I was imagining fat cows romping across your mouldings, with the Beefy Chunk description. But this is a great solution...I wish we had gone larger on our living room mouldings, but I was being timid at the time!
Great idea, and not a cow anywhere, lol.

  7. Hi Penny, I thought the wallpaper looks lovely - the faded flowers. But your moulding is stunning. You have presented everything so beautifully.
    Cheers from Jesse
