Buffalo Check and Roses Spring Mantel

Slowly but surely my love for Farmhouse style decor is creeping into the formal dining room.

When I took down the Easter decor on the faux fireplace mantel this week,     I couldn't decide what to put up in it's place.     I knew I wanted to create a banner to hang across the mantel,   so I looked thru my Pinterest board to get some ideas.

The buffalo check pennant caught my eye right away.........

Then I clicked over to my Alphabet board and these gorgeous black letters covered with roses caught my eye first thing!

I think the combination of the two elements......checks and roses......made a beautiful spring banner

The R is probably my favorite letter......lots of roses on it

I couldn't find the I in this alphabet,   so I printed an H and cut the I out of it!

Bringing up the rear of my spring banner........

the N

and the G

I decorated the mantel with a combination of different containers of roses.

I used silver.....milk glass.......and the ferns are in  glass containers  that are filled with a "dirt look" styrofoam.

I tied some rose stems together to make a topiary in a milk glass bud vase.

I added some farmhouse touches to each side of the fireplace.

I tucked a cute cow print on one side.......

and a watercolor cow print on the other side.
You are welcome to use any of the prints I used to create my spring banner,   just click over to my Pinterest board.......https://www.pinterest.com/penny2005/print-it/

I added some spring to the fireplace opening too

I filled the vintage heater with greenery.

Thank you so much for stopping by to see my Spring Mantel......come back soon!

  2. I went to your Pinterest board to see if I could print out the "Spring" letters in the black and roses theme, but only found two of the letters. The blog looks to have been locked so the letters are no longer available to download. I really like your banner so I will just have to make do with a different set of letters. DARN! Really pretty and I love your style!

  3. I love the banner and am going to use it as inspiration for a banner I need for an upcoming My Favorite Things Party. Because it will have a Alice in Wonderland theme I'm just going to substitute the buffalo check for a checkered board. Thanks!

  4. Penny, your Spring mantle is gorgeously over the top. The banner letters are so beautiful with their roses. Your fireplace looks so shabby chic with its lace and chrubs. thanks for joining Simply Neutrals Tuesday with us.
