Planting Fiber Internet in our Backyard

Yep,   you read it right!
We've had a crew up here digging and planting fiber optic internet in our back yard.!

I've been dreading having this done for about two weeks now .......ever since we set up an appointment to have it hooked up.     I imagined that the back yard  would be completely ruined .

It was not as bad as I had thought though.......

They had to dig a hole under the concrete fence from the alley into the back yard.

H was out there watching the whole installation.......

They also had to dig a hole under the walkway to run the cable under........

All of the digging was done by two of the nicest men I've met in a long time........

Then the ditch witch comes in and digs a trench to run the cable under ground.......

They drill a small  hole thru the brick and  into the house to run the cable thru.

The boxes that you need to use it aren't very intrusive.........

So now we have 1 gig of the fastest internet we've ever had.

I took some photo's of the yard after the crew was finished .......

The mosquito's love me,   so I came inside and took the rest of them from the kitchen window.......

There are a few skid marks on the grass from the tires on the  Ditch Witch and a line where they buried the cable,    but it will look good as new in a few weeks!

  1. We had that done not too long ago. A few years ago we had the entire back yard dug up for sewer lines. The fiber didn't seem near as bad after that! And it's much faster than what we had. :)

  2. We had that done last week at the new place we are in. They were in and out in a jiffy and didn't have the complications of concrete here. Hope you have a great week, Penny. xo Diana

  4. Hi Penny, So glad your beautiful yard wasn't too torn up ~ is fiber optic the same as wifi? Thanks for sharing with pics, and wonderful descriptions on how it was done. Happy Tuesday Penny! Warmest, maryanne :)

  5. Our whole neighborhood was dug up a few weeks ago to install fiber optic. It seemed like it took them FORever to finish it all. We have a metal plate right on the grass median at the end of our driveway. I don't know a thing about how it's hooked up from that spot. Is it expensive? Does it replace whatever internet service you have already? It would be nice to have a faster connection but I don't really need it.

Glad your yard wasn't too awfully damaged. I've never seen a view of as much of your yard as you show in this post. Wow, you have a lot of pretties out there!

  6. P.S. Penny, have you ever taken your readers on a virtual tour of all the things you have in your yard? I would love to see and hear you talk about the various buildings and decorations. Just an idea!
