Basic Wreath gets Christmas Makeover

If you follow my blog posts,    I 'm sure you will remember seeing this wreath many many times.      It's one of my "go to" wreaths that I've had a long time.

Today I'm going to share how I transformed my everyday wreath into a lovely Christmas wreath using my table linens and some pearl tipped straight pins.

You heard me right......straight pins and table linens.

I started with my basic wreath that I made years ago from muslin and lace.

Then,   I did some shopping in my linen storage cabinet in the hallway.       I often get asked "where do you store it all"    well,    sometimes it's in plain sight....lol!      The cabinet that you see reflected in the mirrors houses all my table cloths,   napkins,   napkin rings,  everything I use to create my tablescapes.

I keep my favorite napkins ready to set on the table  at a moments notice!

The last time you saw the buffalo check napkins they were part of my Halloween tablescape

I used straight pins to attach my napkins to the wreath form

I also pinned some of the linens on the ruffled part of the wreath

I took the frosted pink poinsettia's off of the stem they came on and just stuck a pin thru one of the petals and then into the wreath form.

I tacked the antler pieces on by running the straight pin thru their ribbon and onto a ruffle

Before............................................................................................After

You can make your wreath as full or as minimal as you like.     In the after photo you can see that I decided not to show as much of the black and white buffalo check so I pinned  a pink and cream ribbon over it.

I'm not very good at tutorials but I tried to give you plenty of close up photo's to make up for it!

Before........................................................After

After Christmas,   I can easily remove everything and I'm ready to decorate my "go to wreath"  for a new season or holiday.

Do you enjoy decorating for Christmas as much as I do?      I hope so!

  2. Penny, You are so cleaver with making something into something else. I do like the basic wreath and the napkin idea is great. It really makes it country. The wreath would be great for back ground at a wedding shower too especially one at Christmas. Tell us how you made your basic wreath. I love the ribbon and poinsettia on the black buffalo check napkins. Buffalo check is very popular again as I have seen the fabric in several colors and in a lot of high end catalogs.
    Thanks for sharing.
