Candy Stripe Elf Wreath & Tree Potted in a Red Firetruck for the Christmas Porch

H and I spent this morning decorating the porch for Christmas.         H cleaned so many leaves off the porch that he completely filled the big dumpster in the alley.     I made a wreath for the front door and potted a Christmas tree in H's red firetruck.

The elf  wreath I have on the door is probably more than 20 years old  ( it belonged to my mother).      The original bow was all crumpled up,   the elves had come loose,,,,,,,it needed a complete makeover.     I made new bows and reattached the elves and added a Merry Christmas sign.

The mirror by the front door doubles the wreath.....love it!

The mirror also reflects H's firetruck.......

I borrow his firetruck a couple of times a year.

Here she is in the back yard this past 4th of July.

A sweet elf is perched on the hood of the firetruck.

A woodland Santa is on the porch to greet guests.     I usually hang a wreath on the metal shoe last next to Santa,   but this year I hung a shopping bag on it instead ........

I love the print on the shopping bag,  don't you!

I still haven't decided if I like the Santa in front with the bag........

Or back by the firetruck  in place of the ice cream freezer filled with fresh greens.       Time will tell which way I like the best......lol!

Now,     H and I will relax in our rockers for the rest of the afternoon and sip  hot chocolate.......wish you could join us!

I always enjoy your visits....come back soon!

  1. Penny, I love your front porch. The bag is priceless with the sweet dogs driving the pickup. I like the Santa standing beside the bag. I hope you keep a close eye on H's fire truck as that is priceless. I remember when the fire truck, car and something else in the pedal cars were so popular - 1950's era. I always wanted one, but way out of my families budget having 7 kids to feed.
Again thanks for the great decorating that brought back wonderful memories.

  8. Penny,
Love that wreath and how you decorated the front porch!!! It always amazes me that you can put things outside without fear od damage from the elements but you do not get much rain there. We had rain yesterday and we are very close to tying the record for the most rain ever in one year!! It seems like it rains at least every other day here anymore!!!! Love the Santa too!!
    Hugs,
    Deb
