I have collected vintage Fair ribbons and Trophies for a long time....... |
When Fair time came around this year, I drug my tote of treasures out like I always do and proceeded to add ribbons to the "livestock" I had in vignettes around the house. |
As I was playing with my ribbons and trophies, I realized that over the years I had went from collecting the bright blue and red ribbons to being drawn to the ribbons in pretty pastel colors
So, I decided to create a County Fair Cabinet this year featuring the soft colors that I use to decorate our home with year round |
Since I collect Trophies only for my own personal enjoyment, it doesn't bother me to give them a makeover. Their dark wood stands have a nice coat of pink paint on them now |
With all the mirrors in the cabinet, I can't tell you guys how hard it is to get a close up of anything without getting a hand, arm, or the black camera in it.....lol! |
Our State Fair doesn't start until September, so I will leave my Fair Cabinet up until after that. Then, the fall decorating will officially commence |
I like visiting the Livestock Barns at the Fair.... |
But my real love lies in the Art and Quilt Barns..... |
So when I was creating my County Fair Cabinet, I knew it had to be filled with plenty of art work. |
My first thought was to put beautiful Floral paintings in the cabinet, but settled in on the Farm Animals instead. |
Since I didn't want to try to attach ribbons to my art work, I made free standing awards for them |
I think I should have a little get together with friends and family to kick of the County Fair...don't you? |
It's always a pleasure to have you stop by.....come back anytime! |
I loved the whole county fair atmosphere growing up, so your cabinet has me reminiscing.
ReplyDeletePenny, I love your theme this week. I've never actually seen pastel ribbons like that before.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your country fair cabinet at Create, Bake, Grow & Gather this week. I'm delighted to be featuring it at the party tonight and pinning too.
Hugs,
