I showed you the new linen closet in a previous post, now I would like to show some more changes in the laundry room. This drawered unit was a piece that we inherited with the house. The owner/builder of our home had an office in the back yard (now my studio) where he could work from home...he was a contractor.
|
|
As you can see, it was in pretty bad shape...but I had a vision! |
|
I though it would be perfect to store my doilies, place mats, napkin rings, etc.... |
|
H gave it a fresh coat of paint and I added some numbers.. These are the neatest chalk board decals! Last year, I won a $30 gift certificate from Angie at Knick of Time to a company called Chalk it Up. So, I ordered a sheet of different sizes of decals...I had been waiting for just the right project to use them on and here it is! |
|
I added some fabric and a yoyo that I made to the top... |
|
I have all the doilies sorted by color... |
|
French numbers....As you can see, the sun just floods into the laundry room. |
|
I have my collection of vintage aprons stored in this dirty clothes hamper... |
|
And, I have some vintage bank bags in this wire basket.. |
|
The wire baskets that I decorated are from HL, ...50% OFF. |
|
Here is the before photo....and here is the... |
|
after! |
|
I have a very strict Laundry Schedule that fits me perfect! I would rather be decorating than cleaniing! I still have a couple of area's to show you that have changed in the laundry room, so, I'll be back!

It's so beautiful, I would want to stay in there all day and do laundry... I am one of those ladies who actually loves doing household chores... even ironing... it calms and relaxes me... okay, I know alot of you will think I am nuts... but there is sort of a gentle rhythm in doing these things, stopping for a cup of tea in between, then seeing everything all nice and clean... love your garland above your window especially!... xoxo Julie Marie PS just wonderin' where those empty bank bags came from???... tee hee hee... you haven't been up to something naughty have you?...
ReplyDeleteHi Penny, What a wonderful laundry. Who wouldn't want to stay in there and do the wash. Love your cabinet. Perfect for lace and linens and I love the numbers. The chaulk board is too cute. I love to iron though. I know that is crazy, but I have always enjoyed it. Loved seeing your redo.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
hugs, Celestina Marie

ReplyDeleteHi Penny, lovely as always, you have a nack for making things pretty but H does all the painting i have to do it all lol you are lucky to have him.Looking forward to what you do next ! Hugs Peggy
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that lightened and brightened the room lovely! You really have the talent for putting things together so beautifully. I love using a clothes hamper for storage, I never would have thought of that! I have a HUGE ugly laundry room in the basement. It's a finished room, but really needs a lot of attention. Everyone has to strive for something...that's my something I guess!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Pendra

I think I'd be finding excuses to do laundry! "Oh honey, you've got ring around the collar"...slight ripping sound as you tear it off his back..."I'll be in the laundry room!"
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I'm in love with your drawers (no pun intended), and I laughed out loud at your chalkboard sign.
hugs,
Deborah
That is the cutest, most vintage laundry room I've ever seen. I know a friend who would love to have a room like this! I'd love to have you link this to Titus 2 Tuesday this week on Cornerstone Confessions.. I hope to see you there.

Really beautiful, feminine space.
ReplyDeleteI own that washer and dryer, but my space is nothing like yours. Mine is a utility room and it looks like one. But oh, I really like what you did with the space at your house.
ReplyDeleteAs much time as we spend in a laundry room, there is every reason for it to be a room with character and charm. You've done it right.
ReplyDeleteYou are so awesome! I love how you make every room ~ even the laundry room ~ so pretty and special.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up to Project Inspire{d}.
Have a lovely week, hugs, Mary Beth

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and I love the drawers! Thanks for sharing at The Gunny Sack!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty laundry room! And way to go with using what you had to make it even more functional and pretty (what a concept, drawers for doilies). You have a good eye and beautiful taste...I enjoyed this. Lynaea @ EverydayBloom.com
ReplyDeletePenny you've done a marvelous job on that laundry room. I get so much inspiration looking at all you've accomplished...and I get tired just thinking of trying to do some of it here! I love your ideas. I may have to rethink my laces and get them sorted somehow so I can at least see what I"ve got! Wish I had a nice big drawer system like that!! At least my hubby knows that my passion for pretties makes me work on the house at various and odd times!! So excited about your space!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Doni
