Banana Nut Bread

H went to the grocery store "alone" this morning and came home with a big bag of ripe banana's, they were not on his list!  The store had marked down the really ripe banana's and he got the whole bag for $1....10 banana's.   H loves to cook, so he made the bread while I cleaned on the house.

I have a favorite banana bread recipe that I would love to share with you!

It is the best and most moist banana bread that I have ever tasted.

The recipe makes 3 large loaves...and freezes very well.

2  1/4 c. sugar.......1 stick of sofened butter......3 eggs........1 T vanilla...... 5 LARGE RIPE mashed banana's.....

Cream butter and sugar, add the eggs and beat well.

Mix the dry ingredients ......1 1/2 t soda.....3 c. flour.....1 1/2 c chopped walnuts (or pecans)

Combine everything and stir well.     Bake at 325 for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean...be careful not to over bake (that can make your bread dry)l

I like to sprinkle it with some powdered sugar, just to make it pretty!   Serve with a hot cup of coffee or tea and enjoy!

  6. Hey Penny; Thank-You and H so much for Posting this!!!!
    I must try your Recipe!!
I am surprised that you do not add any type of Nuts to your Recipe....
The Breads which I have eaten for most of my life always have Nuts, but then again I live in the South ;-) (We are a Nutty bunch, here)
    Thank-You for Sharing!!! :-)

  7. Penny!! Thanks so much for this great recipe that makes quite a bit!! I LOVE banana bread! My favorite indeed!! I don't make it too often because I am the only one who eats it. Joe is a very picky eater. I love that this makes a lot and can be frozen. I may make this as one of my desserts for when I host a table at the Harvest Tea. I also love zucchini bread.... could sit and eat a whole loaf!!

    Hugs,
    Deb
