Nutcracker Ballet

The Nutcracker is my theme for decorating the entry way this Christmas season.   I have never been a big fan of Nutcrackers because there weren't many available in the pastel colors that I like.   I fell in love with the Nutcrackers that are out this year, though......all the lovely pastel colors!

I am using the ornament wreath that was in the sun room last Christmas.   I try to use everything from the previous years, but in a different room.   The white and pink tulle Christmas trees were on the Santa Loves the Ballet themed tree that was in the family room last year, and the bottle brush trees are some that I made several years ago

Yep, can you see it???...on the right side of the photo you can see a glimpse of the tree that I am decorating in the family room!  I have the tree up, the lights all working, and a few decorations on it.  There is still lots of work to be done on that tree,  but I can take my time and enjoy the process!
I wanted to share how I put the vignette together on the entry way table......

In the first photo, you can see that I had the wreath hung in front of the mirror and the Nutcrackers scattered across the top of the harp table.   When I tried to take photographs of the vignette, I couldn't get the wreath and the Nutcrackers in the photo at the same time...it was like I had two separate vignettes.

So, in the second photo, you can see how I put the Nutcrackers on some "lifts" to bring them up closer to the wreath.  It still didn't look exactly like I had envisioned it.

In the third photo, you can see that I brought out the 'big lifts"....now that's what I'm talkin' bout...lol!  See how the Nutcrackers are now part of the wreath vignette?
On the left, you can see the progress of my skinny Nutcracker tree in the entry way...I have several trees that I am working on!   The formal dining room is the only room without some touch of Christmas.   That room is all about THANKSGIVING!

In the first photo, you can barely see the top of the Nutcrackers hat....

In the second photo..after I added some small lifts...much  better!

In the third photo...I added the big lifts...PERFECT!

I had to do some Pennyfication to this guy...He had too much red on him, so I had to change out some of his trim with pink.

Roses and a crown add to the Nutcracker theme...
Here are all my pretty pastel Nutcrackers!

You can see the lifts that I used a little better in this photo.

Here are....

just some.....

random photos....
that I took!

I can't wait to show you the rest of the entry way when I'm finished!

  17. Penny, you have created one of the prettiest nutcracker scenes ever. The lovely pastels and your attention to details have made this vignette gorgeous. You must of been thrilled at all of the lovely pastels that they have on the market for this year. I found a lot of aqua nutcrackers this year (I love aqua). I can't wait to use them to do one of my nutcracker tables for Christmas. This is all so much fun!!
