Buffet or Sideboard?

We have been cleaning under, around, and over everything in the house.  Sometimes when we move a piece of furniture to clean under it ....I like to move it to a different location.   This buffet is a perfect example...it was in the small dining room before.   I think it is now called a side board since it was moved to the family room...lol!
I wanted to put a vignette on the top of the side board that could easily be converted to a Valentine theme with just the addition of a few accent pieces.   I put some pink roses in a milk glass vase and added a bow for some romance.   I have a floral plate that I will put something Valentiney in front of when I get my stuff unpacked....

I hung a beautiful resin piece on the wall...got it at Hobby Lobby many years ago....
It has been hanging in the master bath for several years...now I will enjoy it here in the family room for a while.  I shopped at home and found something "new" to put in it's place...freshened up the bathroom a little.

I put a pretty vintage tea set on the side board that belonged to my mother.

I have a few more pieces to this set, but I only had room to put out the tea pot and a couple of tea cups.

I had a chair in front of the side board, but decided that I didn't like it.  Soooo, I put a small table and chairs instead!
I "dressed" the chair on the left...which is actually a piano stool....in a vintage flower girl dress.    The table cloth is a vintage prom dress....

Here is a close up of the prom dress, but you can see all the ruffles better in the photo above.

I replaced the bigger rectangle coffee table (in the photo on the right) with a smaller rounds one.   It was just too crowded.
This is the secretary that was in this space earlier....it is now in our bedroom!   More on the bedroom redo later....

The fireplace is on the wall across from the sofa.....it looks pretty bare with all the Christmas gone.   I'd better get busy!

  See you soon!

  11. Penny,
I get a kick out of how you move furniture from room to room!! I have found though with my new floors and felt pads under everything, it sure is easier to move things!! LOL!!

Unfortunately, I do not have the room to move too many thing around....

It looks lovely and that tea set is drop dead gorgeous!! Love it!!
So cute how you "dressed" the furniture!!

    Hugs,
    Deb

  14. Does the wall arrangement behind your sofa hide an entry to another room. I tried to follow on a previous post but I couldn't quite figure out what you had done. If it is an entry that has been closed over...you have done a splendid job disguising it. Just lovely! I get so many idea's from you. It must have taken you years to collect all that gorgeous lace and ruffled pieces. I am fascinated!!

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet comments! Yes, the wall arrangement does conceal an entry to the formal dining room. You can enter the dining room at a different entrance, so it didn't matter if I covered this one up to have a "wall" for the sofa. Huts, Penny

  23. Yup, you have pennified it! I did read that it does determine whether it was a buffet or a sideboard simply by which room is was in. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  28. I say both depending on who I'm talking too if they look at me like they don't know what a sideboard is then I say buffet. Thanks for linking up your stuff with Throwback Thursday, but I'm trying to figure out how to eat perfume!
