Farmhouse Chic Dining Table

Our front porch has been undergoing some exciting changes the last couple of weeks.....lots of hard work involved,  but well worth all the hours that have gone into the transformation.

I have been dreaming of an outside area where we could host dinner parties......

And our new front porch certainly fits the bill!

Although we aren't hosting a dinner party tonight,   I couldn't resist "playing with dishes" this afternoon......

Well,  enough playing....let's see some before and afters.....

We had loaned our utility table out for a yard sale.....it rained,  and they didn't bring it inside.   You can see how the top bubbled and kinda fell apart in the first photo..

I came up with the idea of making a farmhouse style table for the front porch and H made my idea come to life.

I have collected vintage porch chairs for years.    I had them scattered around the yard and had never realized that I had so many til we gathered them up.      H gave them all a fresh coat of white paint and white washed the farmhouse table to match.

He also gave the two vintage gliders a new coat of paint......

The fireplace needed a little tlc,  so it got a fresh coat of white paint too!.

The porch floor.....what can I say about the floor,  except it was a lot of work to get all that cracking, peeling paint off!    It was power washed  several times.   cleaned,  and  hand sanded with a belt sander.    H did almost all of the work alone ....our sweet daughter and sil came over the last day and helped finish the sanding.

You can see in the first photo how the porch floor looked as it started peeling last year,  it looked way worse this year!

We are going to leave the floor with a weathered look.

I can't wait to have a dinner party on the porch!

I'll be back soon to show you the fireplace when I get it decorated for spring!

Your porch is like another room. I especially like the fireplace and floral centerpiece. The trees blooming in the background is the icing on the cake.

I laughed when you said you weren't entertaining, but you played with dishes. My husband just rolls his eyes when I do that, but it's so fun to see how things will look.

  16. It was a lot of fun seeing your photos. We can't put one loose item outside the front of our house. Some people place massive posts outside their homes that are impossible to walk off with, but otherwise everything that can be carried away will be carried off. We do give stuff away all the time that we aren't using anymore, since there are so many needy people here. Visiting from That Friday Blog Hop. My weekend linky:
