Spring Wreath with Ribbon Streamers

I first saw this type of wreath on front doors when we were in San Antonio Texas during the spring fiesta that is held there each year.

The one's you see on the doors during Fiesta in San Antonio  are made with bright bold colors.

I wanted mine to have pastel colors and  shabby chic look.

I started my wreath with a hanging basket style silk geranium bush.

I fluffed up my geranium bush and attached the long pieces around the wreath with floral wire.

If the existing flower is not in the "right place" on the wreath,   I just "serpentine" it rather than clip it off.

I did clip a couple of the long ones to fill in on the right side of the wreath.

I added three tulips to give my wreath a spring feel.

When spring is over,  I can take them out and replace them with summer flowers.....I will do the same thing this fall.    So,  this wreath will last me thru three seasons.

I like to use at least three sizes of blooms to add texture to my wreath......so,  I have the geraniums,  the tulips,  and these small filler flowers and of course a couple of roses!

I could finish my wreath up now with a pretty pink bow.....but you know me better than that!     More is better...lol

I wanted to add ribbon streamers to the lower half of my wreath.

One of our friends is decluttering  his 90+ year old mother's home  and he brought me by about 37 yards of pale green satin and a big roll of white netting.
I tore the yard or so of satin that had been ruined by tape marks to make streamers and used up odd's and ends of pastel ribbon that were left over  from crafting projects.

His mom had wrapped each bolt with box tape to hold them together and when I took it off there was a sticky residue left behind.

I love to watch the streamers wave in the gentle breeze when I sit on the porch......

You will want to do this project outside as it gets pretty messy when you weave the ribbons thru your grapevine wreath!

I took the photo on the left two days ago...........................the right one is from today

You can see that the ornamental pears are in full bloom today!

H is making a country farm table for the front porch...can't wait to show you!

  3. I like your idea of having one wreath with changeable aspects to get through the seasons. And I always think of geraniums for Memorial Day and 4th of July.

  8. Lovely wreath--and great tips for the DIYer. Wreaths are not rocket science for sure---and your streamers are a lot, but I bet fun to watch blow. I love your planters turned shades on the porch---what a cute idea, Sandi
