Let's Make some Christmas Trees!

I needed a few accent Christmas trees for some vignettes that I was working on today.   The standard cone shapes that you can get at the craft stores weren't the size that I needed, plus I wanted some "skinny" trees.   So, I decided to try my hand at making my own ''custom" cones

I needed a tall tree...about 21"...and it needed to be fairly skinny.

This is where I needed it....behind a picture frame on the mantle.  The distance between the frame and the fireplace was only about 5" so you can see my problem!

I made my cone by recycling some empty soda cartons that I had on hand.   I love Diet Cream Soda...lol!   The cones are simple to make ...just flatten the box, roll it up in a cone shape, and tape it together.   The cone needs to stand straight, so measure the length that you want your tree, mark it in a few places, and cut.
There will be a hole in the top of the cone to put some hot glue in.

Just shove the tail of your garland in the hot glue...

Start wrapping the garland around the cone.   You can hot glue the garland to the cone how ever you want to.....I just glued it in a few places as I will probably repurpose the garland next year!
I didn't decorate my trees a whole lot as I will be using them as what I call "back drop" trees.

I added a bow to a couple of them....

glued some garland around one of them...
I "potted" the big white one and added a tree topper to one of them.   They would look cute with little ornaments hot glued to them....just use your imagination!
It took me about an hour to make these five trees.   I had bought most of my garland at the sales last year and the forms were free, so it is a very inexpensive project....and super simple!
