Stainless Steel Washer Tub Repurposed

Our dishwasher needed some work done to it a few weeks ago and while the repairman was here,  he noticed that I liked to repurpose things.    He said he would drop off a washing machine tub that he had and would like to see what I could do with it.

There are so many things you can do with a tub......where do I start!

I knew that I wanted to have light shining thru the holes.......

It could be used as a planter......or.....maybe just have a top made and use it as a end table

Put a big bucket of iced drinks in it......

Put a pillow on top and prop your feet up......

Add fairy lights to the plants......

Here's another thought.......

Fill it with small logs and make a faux fire pit.......

My washer tub doubles as a light for the front porch......

The tub adds an industrial look to my shabby chic porch......

Here's a few how to tips on how H converted it to what I needed.

He removed this big shaft to make the tub flat on both sides.

The he cut a round "shelf" to set stuff on.    The bottom part is lit with a string of Christmas lights...the cord comes out a hole that H cut in the side.    The lights I used on the top are battery operated fairy lights.

Which way do you like it......planter?

Or faux fire pit?

  13. I love this. I made a faux firepit this year using fairy lights as well. Its a workable firepit, but their have been firebans the last three years so this way it will get use. They are so pretty at night, I just have to dress a bit warmer to enjoy it. Love yours.
