Texas Bluebonnets and Long Horns

If you're gonna visit Texas......go in the spring!
The big fields of bluebonnets are amazing.....  you know,     everything is bigger in Texas....lol!

Before I show you Texas hill country in the spring,   I want to share the changes I made in the family room.    This is how the decor on each side of the fireplace looks now........

This is how it looked before.
What changed?    I took down the yard long rose pictures above the display cabinets and hung them in the formal dining room.     I moved the lamps on the cabinets to another area and put different lamps on tables next to the cabinets.    Then I had fun creating new vignettes on the cabinets with a Texas bluebonnet theme.

Before...........................................................After

I hung photo collages where the yard long pictures were.

I have a lamp with a chicken wire shade to the side of the cabinet.     Next to the larger lamp,   I put a sewing machine that has been repurposed as a lamp...it also has a chicken wire shade.
Why two lamps.......this is where H sits and he uses the big lamp for reading,    then he turns it off and uses the smaller lamp for a softer light to relax in his recliner.

Since I was thinking about visiting the bluebonnet fields in Texas,   I thought I should hook up the camping trailer to a Texas longhorn and head out.....lol!
Would love to go to Roundtop this spring,   but I don't think we can this year.   If you've never been to Antique week end at Roundtop,    put it on your bucket list.     Here's a little info......https://antiqueweekend.com/

I filled my photo frames with bluebonnet prints.............

It is a common sight to see a longhorn laying in a field of bluebonnets when you visit Texas in the spring.

Some of the fields have Indian paintbrush flowers mixed in with the bluebonnets.

I have the same photo collage piece above the cabinet on the other side of the fireplace.

I also have two similar lamps with chicken wire frames on a table next to the display cabinet.

I have a camping trailer on this cabinet too,   but it's hooked up to my pink tractor....lol!

I have bluebonnet and boot prints in the frames on this side.    I can change my prints out as often as I like since they are just held on with clips.

This was such a fun project!

I added a big pink rose bush to the space between the cabinet and the fireplace on this side.....

On the other side,   I placed a olive bucket filled with wildflowers in the space between the fireplace and cabinet.

The only change I made to the fireplace mantel was to change out the print in the center.

I love the new look in the family room!

Thank you for stopping by......come back soon!

  9. Penny, hubby and I just returned home from spending almost two weeks in Texas. We actually signed up for a bluebonnet photography workshop in Brenham. We wanted to travel around and see lots of other sites before the workshop. We had a wonderful time! The bluebonnets were not in full bloom as usual in the hill country this time of year, but we did get to see a few pretty patches of them and Indian paintbrush. I saw a picture of a fence in a field of bluebonnets in a shop that I loved and wanted to buy. Couldn't bring myself to fork out the $650 they wanted for it. I'll have to print some of my own. :) Love your collection of prints!
    hugs,
    Jann
